Back by popular demand, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has designed a brand new, full-sized (8.5" x 11"), 12-month wall calendar for 2023!
This year's theme highlights the REAL stars of the Mihmiverse: THE MONSTERS, with each month featuring stylized images of the creatures which inhabit the films of the writer/director Christopher R. Mihm. AND, as always, every calendar will be individually numbered and personally signed by Mr. Mihm himself!
As in previous years, this Mihmiverse-inspired wall calendar will be released in EXTREMELY limited quantities (less than 50 will be produced) and, once they're gone, NEVER reprinted!

Writer/director Christopher R. Mihm spent the past weekend at the Lake Charles Film Festival in Louisiana and, aside from hanging out with a bunch of very cool people, being treated like a rock star, and eating a TON of Cajun food, he was presented with an "Indie Film Achievement Award" in the form of the pirate-themed statuette pictured here!
Why a pirate, you ask? For those who are unaware, the port of Lake Charles (which is located roughly 200 miles from New Orleans) is famous for being the place where the legendary privateer Jean Lafitte allegedly hid his ill-gotten treasures on the Contraband Bayou, a large bayou which runs through the area.
Needless to say, Mr. Mihm had an amazing time and was very excited to receive such a prestigious award! He has reportedly put it on his shelf next to the Rondo award he won for Best Indie Feature for "House of Ghosts!"

The world premiere of "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Day the Earth Abruptly Almost Ended" went off without a hitch and turned out far better than we were ever anticipating! We're still processing the experience, but we wanted to share this photo of the Heights Theater's marquee since, despite there being three Phantom Lake Kids movies, this is the first time the words "The Phantom Lake Kids" have appeared on a marquee!
Thank you to everyone who joined us! It was you, the fans, who made the event everything (AND MORE) we could have ever hoped for—particularly given how difficult the last few years have been!
Wednesday, July 27, 2022 THE MIHMIVERSE RETURNS TO THE HEIGHTS THEATER TONIGHT!
The final Phantom Lake Kids adventure, "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Day the Earth Abruptly Almost Ended," debuts this evening at the historic Heights Theater! A handful of tickets remain (and we often get a few last-minute cancellations) so, if you'd like to attend the event but didn't purchase advance tickets, join us! However, we highly recommend coming down BEFORE the doors open at 6:30 to ensure you snag one (or more) of the last few seats!
In addition to the main attraction, attendees will enjoy a program complete with hand-picked, era-appropriate newsreels, classic trailers, appearances by most (if not all) of the cast and crew, autographs, photo opportunities with a creature from the film, and a silent auction! DVDs, Blu-Rays, posters, and other merchandise will also be on sale!
NOTE: This is the first time we've held a Mihmiverse premiere since before the pandemic and, given that this is still the age of COVID and current transmission numbers are elevated, for the safety of everyone in attendance, masks will be REQUIRED. If you don't have one when you arrive, one will be provided to you. If you do not want to wear one, you will not be allowed to attend and NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.
Advance tickets are still available, but they're almost gone! Remember, if advance tickets sell out before the event, we WILL NOT be selling tickets at the door! The only way to guarantee admission to this once-in-a-lifetime event, is to buy advance tickets!
It's been brought to our attention that the events page on the mobile version of our website mistakenly lists the date of the world premiere of "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Day the Earth Abruptly Almost Ended" as July 22nd. This is incorrect! The actual date of the event is Wednesday, July 27th! We will correct the error as soon as possible and apologize for any confusion this may have caused!

We realize we've been quiet lately, but rest assured it's only because we've been SO BUSY getting everything ready for all the amazing stuff happening this month! That said, the Mihmiverse Monthly newsletter and audiocast will be delayed until AFTER the upcoming holiday!

Phantom Lake County is known for its share of strange occurrences, from monster attacks to alien invasions. Advance ticket holders will receive exclusive, collectible, individually-numbered tickets for every admission purchased. To be admitted, you MUST present your ticket(s) at the door. If you fail to do so, you will be required to pay AGAIN to enter—and only if tickets are available at the door! Collector's tickets will be mailed out by the end of June!
IMPORTANT! This is the first Mihmiverse premiere since the Covid pandemic began (and 2019's "Queen of Snakes"). In the interest of protecting the health and safety of premiere attendees, we will be adhering to strict guidelines concerning certain Covid-related protocols. Regardless of the Covid infection rate on the date of this event, all attendees will be REQUIRED to wear a mask to attend. Only 120 advance tickets will be made available to give us the ability to limit the event to half-capacity should it be required. The remaining 120 tickets will be sold at the door IF conditions are favorable to adding seats beyond 50% auditorium capacity!
The Heights Theater is located at 3951 Central Avenue Northeast in Columbia Heights, MN.
Principal photography of "Annihilate All Humans!" was slated to begin tomorrow afternoon. However, one of the actors was directly exposed to COVID, thus delaying the start until next Friday!
This being the new normal, the production will soldier on! In the meantime, don't forget to contribute to the new movie to make sure we can effectively weather this storm and get it done!

BIG NEWS!
If you're a regular Mihmiverse Monthly Audiocast listener, you recently heard writer/director Christopher R. Mihm mention that his next movie would most likely be an anthology called "The Wandering Creature and Other Tales." Regardless of that, it seems Mr. Mihm has "pulled a fast one" on us Mihmivites, because he just announced his next film after "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Day the Earth Abruptly Almost Ended" will, in fact, be something completely different: "Annihilate All Humans!, a flying-saucer-attack picture starring a handful of returning fan-favorite characters!
According to the wily director, the idea for this new film dates back to five pages he started writing in 2015, but he was unable to "unlock the story" (as he put it) until a recent discussion with his son, Elliott, who you all know as Danny Johnson in the Phantom Lake Kids movies. Seems this conversation inspired Mr. Mihm to flesh out the rest of the script and come up with, as he described it, a rollicking disaster movie that's equal parts hilarious, exciting, and terrifying! AND, best of all, the three actors needed to play the main characters, Mike Cook (Dr. Edwards), James Norgard (Dr. Gabriel), and Mark Haider (General Castle) are all on board for the new adventure!
In "Annihilate All Humans!," the world is under attack by flying saucers and only top scientists Dr. Edwards and Dr. Gabriel can put an end to their unearthly aggression! Unfortunately, they have no idea it's even happening because they've been kidnapped by General Castle and taken to a remote cabin in the deep woods for some unsolicited rest & relaxation! Can our heroes find their way back to civilization in time to stop the alien menace, or will the seemingly unstoppable space invaders succeed in their quest to ANNIHILATE ALL HUMANS!?

Insert April Fool's joke here. (That's it. That's the joke.)
For this particular design, Mr. Mihm wanted to continue with the retro, minimalistic approach he took with the two other Phantom Lake Kids movie posters, all while trying to pull the "look and feel" together into a semi-coherent whole by using similar layouts, elements (including the film's young stars), colors, and textures. Since the Phantom Lake Kids movies form the first true Mihmiverse trilogy, we think this was the correct approach!
No matter what, let us be the first to say that the poster just looks really cool, especially given the fact its tagline promises "Kooky Kids Stand[ing] Between Colossal Creatures and Out-an-Out Oblivion!" (SOMEONE clearly had fun coming up with that snappy, alliterative phrase!) AND, that giant clawed hand "ripping" through the design hints at something truly BIG coming in this next film! We can't wait!
Finally, for those of you out there excited to get your hands on a printed version of this new poster, we plan to have some made VERY SOON!
In the meantime, we have it on good authority that we should be able to expect a trailer for the new film in the coming days and news about a release date!
On this special day in 2006, "The Monster of Phantom Lake" held its world premiere at the Heights Theater to a near-sold-out crowd. As soon as it was released, the film began to receive positive press and, to this day, still earns great reviews and remains a perennial favorite. It continues to screen all over the world and has appeared in countless film festivals and earned numerous awards.
Dubbed "the little movie that could," "The Monster of Phantom Lake" is where the Mihmiverse officially began, introducing the ever-growing fan base to such staples as the Jackson family, "A-Rockin', A-Rollin', All the Way A-Ramblin'," the Canoe Cops, the "flashlight thing," and much, much more!

NEW COLLECTIBLES ALERT!
We JUST added a pair of very cool, very rare Mihmiverse collectibles to the merchandise page: the first official Mihmiverse postcard and a Mihmiverse-themed retro lunch box (pictured)!
The lunch boxes come from the mind of super-fan Barry Perkins, measure 8" x 6" x 4" and are big enough to hold a reasonable-sized lunch, multiple Pocket Steves, several DVD cases, or anything you could want to store!
The first official Mihmiverse postcard depicts an image taken from "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us" and includes the emerging form of the most iconic Mihmiverse creature first introduced to the world in "The Monster of Phantom Lake!" The bright and cheery message at the bottom reads, "Greeting from beautiful Phantom Lake!"
These standard-size postcards were designed by writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and are appropriately colorized and "weathered" to look as retro as possible! They can even be sent through the mail using 40¢ postcard stamps!
This exclusive collectible is intended to be the first in a series and is limited to only 100 pieces! Once we've sold an adequate number, we'll release the next in the series!
