It's late, but the latest episode of the Mihmiverse Bonfire Podcast is finally here!

As filming of the latest movie, "The Late Night Double Feature," kicks into high gear, the podcast crew took a break from their frantic schedule to squeeze in another episode!

Taking advantage of a gorgeous autumn afternoon, hosts Rhuby 'n' Hater lit the fire pit and welcomed writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (of course) and two of the stars of "The Wall People" half of the new faux-double-feature, Mike Cook (Dr. Edwards/Gustav) and Douglas Sidney (Dr. Collins in "Attack of the Moon Zombies").

Sadly, we regret to report that, due to the very busy "Halloween screening season" and the intense filming schedule of the currently-in-production Mihmiverse film, "The Late Night Double Feature," the October edition of the Mihmiverse Bonfire Podcast will be delayed until early next week.

The podcast crew extend their sincerest apologies, but as a consolation, we offer this photo of the Mihmiverse "monster of all trades," Michael Kaiser, enjoying a sip of Old Man Yates Superior Whiskey. (Remember, always drink responsibly, kids!)

We just found out that the latest Mihmiverse film, "The Giant Spider," scored a hat trick at the third annual Highway 61 Film Festival by pulling in first place in the "Action/Horror Feature" category. This is the third film in as many years to do so (hence "hat trick," a term used in hockey to refer to a person scoring three goals in one game). A big congratulations goes out to the cast and crew!

ALSO, over the weekend, we've managed to set up another pair of "The Giant Spider"-related events: a screening at a theater/pub in Oregon and a double-feature in Chicago! Check out the events page for more information!

After a magnificent weekend spent at the Edgerton Sterling North Book and Film Festival, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and the first lady of the Mihmiverse, Stephanie Mihm, asked us to use this space to publicly thank the organizers of the event for what they described as "a fantastic weekend full of good times and great people!" In addition, they provided the following pair of photos taken this past weekend.

The photo on the left is a cellphone capture of an electronic billboard featuring Mr. Mihm located in Janesville, WI. Upon randomly seeing this billboard, Mrs. Mihm had an immediate excited reaction while, this being the first time ever, her husband was more or less dumbfounded to see his "mug" on a billboard!

The second photo is of a sign that was found hanging in a hallway at the actual event. The featured speaker at the festival was Dr. Patch Adams, a physician and social activist who was immortalized in the semi-biographical film, "Patch Adams" (1998), starring Robin Williams. Though Mr. Mihm's "star" is nowhere near as bright as Dr. Adams', it was still a huge thrill for the man-behind-the-Mihmiverse to see his name next to someone as impressive and storied!

Friday, September 27, 2013

In 1956, the classic science fiction film "Forbidden Planet" was released containing the very first 100% electronic film score. Composed by Louis and Bebe Barron, their music was listed in the credits as "electronic tonalities," instead of as an actual score.

As a direct nod to "Forbidden Planet," parts of "The Wall People" half of the currently-in-production "The Late Night Double Feature" will contain original "electronic tonalities" created specifically for the film by super-fan (and frequent Mihmiverse Bonfire Podcast contributor) Peter Flynn! As of this date, we do not know whether or not a soundtrack will be made available after the release of the film.

DON'T FORGET! If you're around the Madison/Edgerton area of Wisconsin on Saturday, September 28th, come down to the Edgerton Sterling North Book Festival and hear writer/director Christopher R. Mihm speak (at 8:30AM and again at 1:30PM) about moviemaking and the creative process. AND, as an added bonus, this free day-long event includes a late afternoon screening of "The Giant Spider!"

Check out the events page for more information!

It's a beautiful night for a bonfire! OR, more specifically, another episode of the Mihmiverse Bonfire Podcast!

This month, hosts Rhuby 'n' Hater hang out by the fire with writer/director Christpoher R. Mihm (natch), fire tender (and first lady of the Mihmiverse) Stephanie Mihm and a very special nepotistic guest-of-honor: Elliott Schmoobert Moo Catfood Cornelius Begala Mihm (Danny Johnson from "Terror from Beneath the Earth" and "The Giant Spider")!

Also included: writer/director Christopher R. Mihm reads a passage from the guest's favorite book... when he was three.

Cool UK-related Mihmiverse news!

First, we've just received news that ALL EIGHT of the films of the Mihmiverse will be screening in the Sultan's Sci-Fi Suite at this year's Bram Stoker International Film Festival!

The Bram Stoker International Film Festival is an annual event that shows independent narrative features, documentaries, and shorts from around the world. The festival takes place in Whitby, England, a location familiar to anyone who has read (or experienced one of its many incarnations) Bram Stoker's most famous novel, "Dracula."

As of this date, the exact screening schedule for writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's films has not yet been posted BUT, when it does, we'll let you know!

ALSO, an exclusive interview with writer/director Christopher R. Mihm will appear in issue #2 of Space Monsters Magazine, a cool new magazine out of the UK dedicated to classic film and television science-fiction! If you're a fan of retro B-movies and television (which, we imagine you are if you're also a Mihmivite), Space Monsters Magazine is definitely aimed at you!

Space Monsters Magazine is available in both digital and print editions. Order yours today!

After numerous requests by fans (local and out-of-town alike) to premiere the next Mihmiverse film on a weekend, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has decided it's time to do just that!

When longtime Mihmivites Diane Perrault, Mike Plows and Rick Hutchins flew in from both coasts to attend the premiere of "The Giant Spider," the Mihmiverse crew treated them to multiple days of Mihmiverse (and non-Mihmiverse) related fun, frolic and frippery. Realizing that other fans would enjoy the experiences these fantastic fans had, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm decided that moving the event to a weekend was the only real way to make it easier for more to enjoy the unique excitement of a Mihmiverse premiere.

Up until now, the reasoning behind holding the premiere during the week has been mostly. financial—it's simply cheaper to rent the theater during the week. Also, because of Hollywood demands, it is LITERALLY impossible to book the Heights Theatre on a weekend during the month of May. BUT, after negotiating with the owner of the theater (a dedicated supporter of the Mihmiverse), a deal was struck and a date was chosen: Saturday, April 26th, 2014—as close as you can get to Saturday in May AND the day after writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's 38th birthday!

SO, here's the skinny: in addition to traditional world premiere elements like watching the new movie and enjoying free cake, Mr. Mihm wants to expand the premiere into a two-day event for those who would like to extend their Mihmiverse experience. Thus, Friday night (April 25th, Mr. Mihm's actual birthday!) will be filled with other Mihmiverse-related events. We are currently in the process of talking to local hotels to book meeting space and work out room deals for out-of-towners. We are also considering holding a dinner or hors d'oeuvres meet-and-greet. Specifics are still up-in-the-air, but many great ideas are being tossed around!

BUT... and this is a pretty big but... to accomodate the expansion of the premiere and to offset the price of renting both the theater and meeting space, for those interested in only attending the premiere ticket prices will have to be raised ever-so-slightly. (NOTE: All contributors will automatically receive this level of admission.) For those looking to enjoy the entire weekend's worth of fun, there will be an as-yet-determined additional "VIP" charge. We are also considering another level of admission, dubbed the "VVIP" level by actor J. Andrew Wilkins (The Medium in "House of Ghosts")!

Writer/director Christopher R. Mihm is looking to gauge interest in this event and wants to hear your suggestions on stuff YOU would like to do, see or experience. If you are interested in attending or have questions, comments, concerns, fun ideas and/or just want to let us know that you want this to happen, PLEASE send an email to info@sainteuphoria.com. As of this date, NOTHING is set in stone. Perhaps your vote of confidence or kind words will be the just the thing to push Mr. Mihm in the right direction?

This story will be developing over the course of the next week or so. Keep watching this space for more information as it becomes available!

Just a short note to share what has to be one of THE COOLEST marquee photos ever taken!

This image comes from this past weekend's energetic (and well attended) screening of "The Giant Spider" at the Time Community Theater in Oshkosh, WI!

The Giant Spider!

Something exciting is "cooking" in the Mihmiverse lab!

We were sent this photo (right) today by monster maker Mitch Gonzales, the man responsible for several iconic Mihmiverse monsters, including the moon zombies, the angel of death and the "spider face" used for close-up shots in "The Giant Spider!"

Don't worry! This isn't what the final monster will look like. Instead, Mr. Gonzales informed us that this is what is known as a "splash coat" used to create the mold for the mask to be used as the title creature for "X: The Fiend from Beyond Space!"

What will the monster look like when it's done? You may have to wait for the world premiere of the next Mihmiverse film, "The Late Night Double Feature," to find out!

The third season of the Mihmiverse Bonfire Podcast has officially begun!

Hosts Rhuby 'n' Hater, perma-guest (and "reason for the season") Christopher R. Mihm and first lady of the Mihmiverse, Stephanie Mihm spend a gorgeous night around the bonfire with guests Billie Jo Konze (Dr. Hackett from "The Giant Spider") and Robert Silinghia (Dr. Huer in "Attack of the Moon Zombies"). Also, the Mihmiverse welcomes its first intern: Shane "The Killer Leprechaun" O'Flanagan Donahue Donaghy Donnelly!

Also included: a secret code from writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and the first edition of "Unreasonable Requests for the Intern!"

A photo featuring Sid Korpi (Leigh/Administrator Ripley) and her four dogs (all of whom appeared in "House of Ghosts" as one dog) walking around one of Minnesota's many lakes appeared in the Minneapolis StarTribune newspaper yesterday—and the caption even mentioned "House of Ghosts!"

Sid's husband, Anthony Kaczor, who most recently appeared in a very memorable scene in "The Giant Spider," sent us a scan of the page (thanks, Anthony!), which you can see HERE!

Monday, August 5, 2013

A short but EXCITING note...

As of 6:30PM today, principal photography of "X: The Fiend from Outer Space" (the first half of the next Mihmiverse film, "The Late Night Double Feature") has OFFICIALLY begun!

Friday, August 2, 2013

Last night's screening of "The Giant Spider" at the Lake 5 Theatre in Forest Lake, MN was a SMASHING success!

The auditorium was packed (almost to capacity!) with moviegoers who laughed, gasped and cheered along with the film—which even scored a standing ovation during the end credits! Afterwards, attendees were treated to conversations with the cast and crew, autographs and photos with the spider puppet. As you can see from the photo, even the first lady of the Mihmiverse, Stephanie Mihm, got in on the fun! All things considered, this screening will definitely go down in Mihmiverse history as one of the ABSOLUTE best!

Last night's event was part of "Edwood Grimm's Thursday Night Fright," a bi-monthly screening series that features classic horror films like 1931's "Dracula," 1956's "Forbidden Planet," and 1958's "The Blob." "Edwood Grimm's Thursday Night Fright" is the brainchild of Chris Costello, an exceedingly friendly and inspiring man who has created something that is quickly becoming a huge part of the rural town's charm!

For more information about the screening series, check out their Facebook page HERE!

It appears something weird may be happening down at Amazon.com! When writer/director Christopher R. Come on out this weekend (Friday, Saturday AND Sunday!) to the Stardust Twin Drive-in in Chetek, WI and see "The Giant Spider" where it was absolutely meant to be seen!

Less than two hours outside the Twin Cities, the Stardust Twin is absolutely one of the NICEST, CLEANEST and FRIENDLIEST drive-ins you will ever experience. AND, as added incentive (as if you needed it!), the big "drive-in attack" scene in "The Giant Spider" (seen extensively in the film's trailer) was filmed at this drive-in! Just think how cool and unique it'll be to see the film's title creature attack the drive-in on the very screen where it was filmed!

See you there!

It's been a full week since last Wednesday's world premiere of "The Giant Spider" and there is only one word to describe the event: INCREDIBLE! The beautiful Heights Theatre was completely packed with excited fans who laughed and shrieked at all the right moments as the newest (and arguably best) Mihmiverse film unspooled on the silver screen!

BUT, the premiere was not the ONLY event of note! The "premiere overflow" screening at the Trylon Microcinema and the weekend of drive-in screenings at the Hi-way 18 Outdoor Theatre were well attended by enthusiastic crowds eager to partake in the latest film from writer/director Christopher R. Mihm.

If you were unable to attend any of these amazing events, you truly missed out! For proof, check out the photos below!

Photos, from left to right, top to bottom: a line forms outside the Heights Theatre, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and the first lady of the Mihmiverse, Stephanie Mihm, "glam up" the proceedings, "spider flowers" from super Mihmivite (and "The Giant Spider" associate producer) Theresa Perkins, a good chunk of the film's cast assemble for a photo (Jana Norland, Shannon McDonough, Mike Cook, Daniel R. Sjerven, J. Andrew Wilkins, Elliott Mihm, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm, Elizabeth Kaiser, Mark Haider, Stephanie Mihm, Billie Jo Konze, Cherie "Rhuby" Gallinati, Anthony Kaczor), a spider cupcake from Red Velvet Mel's, James Norgard (and photobomber) outside the theater, Dr. Ivan Cryptosis approves the latest Mihmiverse film, monster maker Mitch Gonzales poses with his creation, Michael Kaiser and writer/director Christopher R. Mihm pose in front of the merchandise at the Hi-way 18 Outdoor Theatre, the marquee at the drive-in!

A-Rockin', A-Rollin', All-The-Way-A-Ramblin' Framed 'Gold' Record
ONLY THREE LEFT!

Have you picked up your individually numbered, faux-gold 45-rpm single of "A-Rockin', A-Rollin', All-The-Way-A-Ramblin'?" If you haven't, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND you do, because we're down to the final three. AND, once they're gone, they'll NEVER be available EVER AGAIN!

This framed vinyl record is a near-perfect replica of the prop seen in writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's 2011 film, "Attack of the Moon Zombies." This "hit single" references the song used by Professor Jackson in fan-favorite Mihmiverse film "The Monster of Phantom Lake" to woo his lady love, Stephanie Yates!

Visit the merchandise page to order yours before they're gone forever—and when we say "gone forever," we absolute, 100% mean FOREVER!

The Mihmivites have spoken and writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has listened!

After the rousing success of the "The Giant Spider" lobby cards, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm was asked to release more lobby card sets for his other films... and so he did, starting with his multi-award winning film, "Attack of the Moon Zombies!"

These new "Attack of the Moon Zombies" lobby cards were designed by writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and are available (only) as a set of eight 8.5" x 11" cards. Each card depicts a different scene from the film and are hand-colorized and stylistically "weathered" to look extra retro!

NOTE: This item is now available for pre-order! These card sets are in the process of being printed and will ship as soon as we receive them, which, we anticipate, will be within the next five business days!

To order a set of these extremely rare collectibles, visit the just-added lobby cards section of the merchandise page!

Mihm, Mitch "The Rain Bringer" Gonzales, podcast mascot Tori Fox and candle tender Kira Pontiff find themselves stuck underground—AGAIN. Luckily, this month's guest, Mike Mason, makes it more than tolerable! Also included: the latest episode of "Commander Lambent: Space Explorer...In Space!," a "classic bad poem" from writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's childhood and the latest edition of "Who's Googlin' Who?," wherein writer/director Christopher R. Mihm reads some of the more "interesting" search terms used by people trying to find his website!

Are you a fan of the Mihmiverse Bonfire Podcast? If not, you may not be aware that one of the highlights of the audiocast is the writer/director Christopher R. Mihm-penned retro-radio-style serial "Commander Lambent: Space Explorer...In Space!"

Currently on its tenth episode, "Commander Lambent: Space Explorer...In Space!" chronicles the ongoing adventures of Commander Lambent and his faithful sidekick, Ruby (played by Mihmiverse Bonfire Podcast hosts, Mark and Rhuby, respectively) as they explore the vast unknown expanse of outer space!

YES, the announcement of the next Mihmiverse film made on April 1st WAS a prank! BUT, the following announcement is not!

The film writer/director Christopher R. Mihm will be making AFTER the soon-to-be-released "The Giant Spider" is...

"The Late Night Double Feature," a double bill of 1950s-style B-movies consisting of "Reform School Girls vs. The Space Monster" and "The Wall People!"

Check out the synopses below!

"Reform School Girls vs. The Space Monster"
While on a "therapeutic" camping trip, the four most difficult students at the Phantom Lake Reform School for Challenging Young Women find themselves fighting for their lives (and the fate of planet Earth) when they come face-to-face with a horrific creature from outer space!

"The Wall People"
Following the death of his wife, scientist Barney Collins finds solace in his new role as a single dad to his only son. However, when the boy disappears from his bed under mysterious circumstances, Barney loses his grip on reality and becomes a shut in. Eight years later, he resurfaces with a wild theory: his son has been taken by an evil entity that steals sleeping children through interdimensional portals in their bedroom walls! He enlists the help of his old colleagues to potentially save his son from the clutches of this inhuman threat—or prove he is certifiably insane!
We've been told to expect some familiar Mihmiverse faces in these films INCLUDING a possible appearance by a fan-favorite who hasn't been seen since "Cave Women on Mars!"

Click HERE to check out the new page for "The Late Night Double Feature!"

Regarding Mr. Mihm's previously announced fake movie, "The Maniac," those who were kind enough to try to contribute to the film instead received a message revealing the ruse that included a promise to possibly revisit the core idea at a later date! Seeing as the idea wasn't horrible (see the 2011 April Fools gag for a truly terrible idea!), we're excited to know it won't disappear completely.

Speaking of contributing to the next Mihmiverse film, if you would like to, YOU CAN! To become a contributor for "The Late Night Double Feature," visit the contributor page and sign up today!

Tuesday, April 2, 2013

As mentioned yesterday, the contributor program for the NEXT Mihmiverse film, "The Maniac," is NOW AVAILABLE! Previously known as the associate producer program, the participation process has been streamlined and donation minimum reduced to $25 per credit to allow more people to participate!

For each $25.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film, one (1) copy of the finished film on DVD, a collector's ticket to the film's world premiere, and a customized, framable document certifying your participation in the program! Contributor credits can even be given as gifts!

To become a contributor, click HERE!

The April issue of the Mihmiverse Monthly, the official newsletter of the films of Christopher R. Mihm, is now available!

In this issue you'll find the latest Mihmiverse news, an interview with associate producer Jason Genser, another classic movie of the month (1957's "The Deadly Mantis"), and three guest-written columns, including Classic Movie Trivia with Mike Cook (Gustav/Dr. Edwards), Mihmiverse Memories, and From the Mihmiverse Test Kitchens with the first lady of the Mihmiverse, Stephanie Mihm!

Monday, April 1, 2013

With authoring of the "The Giant Spider" DVD wrapping up, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has turned his sights toward the future! Not one to rest on his laurels, he has given us permission to release a title and synopsis for his next film! After reading it, let's just say this: don't let the date fool you, this is 100% legit. So much so, we will be restarting the streamlined contributor program (previously known as the "associate producer program") TOMORROW!

For now, here's what's next for the 'verse!
The Maniac
Humanity is on the cusp of perfecting a technology that promises instantaneous intergalatic travel. Built on information unearthed by archaeologists which seemingly comes from an ancient robotic alien who visited the Earth thousands of years ago, this technology seeks to revolutionize space travel. However, there is another, secret purpose: to find Captain Mike Jackson, a test pilot who disappeared after testing the Earth's first faster-than-light rocket ship. At first believed to be dead, a garbled transmission from the lost space explorer was received years later by one of Earth's deep space radio telescopes. On a remote scientific outpost built deep beneath the surface of a small asteroid, a select group of scientists comprised exclusively of a single, brilliant man and a dozen of his clones studies and attempts to perfect this technology. Things seem to be going well until, unexpectedly, people start turning up dead! With every person living on the outpost a copy of the next, determining who is responsible becomes a murderous, outer space mystery of "Hitchcockian" proportions!

"The Maniac" stars writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (in every role!) in a tour de force performance that will leave you breathless! "The Maniac" will go before cameras in July 2013 with an eye toward a May 2014 release date!
Since writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has, to date, shied away from being in front of the camera, we asked him how he feels about playing thirteen roles in a single film. At first, he laughed before saying, "People always joke that I'm an ego-maniac. With this amazing script, I feel like I can take that to its most logical extreme. I'm excited for the challenge!" Finally, he added, "Peter Sellers, eat your heart out!"

Now that this much information about the next movie has been revealed, we've added a page for "The Maniac" to the website! Check it out HERE!

Since the world premiere of "The Giant Spider" sold out so quickly and so many people were unable to get tickets (but desperately wanted to go), writer/director Christopher R. Mihm will be presenting a special "premiere overflow" screening at the Trylon Microcinema on May 23rd, the day AFTER the premiere!

Located in the heart of Minneapolis, the Trylon is a small, intimate theater that specializes in screenings of classic and independent films.

Advance tickets are NOW AVAILABLE! Visit the events section of the merchandise page to get your tickets right away!

Much like the world premiere (which sold out in only 17 days!), tickets to this event are expected to sell quickly. ALSO, the Trylon Microcinema only seats 50 people—by comparison, the Heights Theatre (where the world premiere is being held) holds 400!

Order your advance tickets today or risk missing out!

Lastly, after a VERY brief shortage, "The Monster of Phantom Lake" and "House of Ghosts" DVDs are now back in stock! Visit the merchandise page and pick up your copies today!

Sunday, March 10, 2013

As of 10:41PM last night, the world premiere of "The Giant Spider" is COMPLETELY SOLD OUT!

Congratulations to all those who were able to secure tickets! Tickets have been on sale for only 17 days, thus earning this event the distinction of selling out faster than any in the history of the Mihmiverse!

Friday, March 8, 2013

We just sold out of our last copies of "The Monster of Phantom Lake" and "House of Ghosts!" BUT, have no fear! We are expecting new shipments very early next week so this shortage won't last (thankfully)!

A brand-new, VERY COOL limited-run Mihmiverse collectible is NOW AVAILABLE for pre-order... and it's a first for the Mihmiverse: "The Giant Spider" lobby cards!

Lobby cards are a form of movie advertising that was far more common in the early days of film and up through the B-movie-rich 1950s and '60s. Usually issued in sets of eight, each card featured a different scene from the film. These days, full sets of lobby cards are highly sought after by collectors.

The new "The Giant Spider" lobby cards were designed by writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and are available (only) as a set of eight 8.5" x 11" cards. Each card depicts a different scene from the film and are hand-colorized and stylistically "weathered" to look extra retro!

NOTE: This item is currently pre-order ONLY! These card sets are in the process of being printed and will ship as soon as we receive them! This may take up to 21 days.

To order a set of these extremely rare collectibles, visit the collectibles section of the merchandise page!

Monday, March 4, 2013

The final poster design for the next Mihmiverse film, "The Giant Spider," is finally here!

Designed by writer/director Christopher R. Mihm, this super-cool poster is, as he describes it, a "cool riff" on the classic "Teenagers from Outer Space" poster! As far as we're concerned, THIS ONE IS BETTER!

We've been told that these posters are on their way to the printing company and will be available for purchase soon. ALSO, in addition to these lambent (that means "cool" to true Mihmivites) 11" x 17" posters, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has designed a set of eight retro-styled lobby cards for "The Giant Spider!" They will be available as an extremely limited set at the same time as the posters!

In the meantime, if you would like to view a larger version of the poster, drag your mouse pointer over the image to the right and a bigger (and easier to see) version will automatically pop-up!

Friday, March 1, 2013

The new issue of the Mihmiverse Monthly, the official newsletter of the films of Christopher R. Mihm, is now available!

As in months past, you'll find the latest Mihmiverse news, an interview with associate producer Shirley Miezwa, another classic movie of the month (Bert I. Gordon's 1958 gigantic-killer-spider film "Earth vs. the Spider"), and three guest-written columns, including Classic Movie Trivia with Mike Cook (Gustav/Dr. Edwards), Mihmiverse Memories, and From the Mihmiverse Test Kitchens with the first lady of the Mihmiverse, Stephanie Mihm!
