ANNIHILATE ALL HUMANS!
As preparations are underway for the big in-theater world premiere of the final
Phantom Lake Kids movie, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm is hard at work on his
NEXT movie, "
Annihilate All Humans!"
After a small Covid-related hiccup (just a potential exposure and, thankfully, no one came down with it!), principal photography of the film finally began on May 20th! The first scene to be shot included three of the main characters, all of whom are familiar faces to Mihmivites everywhere: Dr. Edwards (played once again by Mike Cook), Dr. Gabriel (James Norgard), and General Castle (Mark Haider). As proof, check out the cool behind-the-scenes photo below snapped by the first lady of the Mihmiverse, Stephanie Mihm!
In "
Annihilate All Humans!," the world is under attack by flying saucers and only top scientists (Dr. Edwards and Dr. Gabriel) can put an end to their unearthly aggression! Unfortunately, they have no idea it's even happening because they've been kidnapped by General Castle and taken to a remote cabin in the deep woods for some unsolicited rest & relaxation! Can our heroes find their way back to civilization in time to stop the alien menace, or will the seemingly unstoppable space invaders succeed in their quest to
ANNIHILATE ALL HUMANS!?
. . .
Don't forget, the Mihmiverse is only made possible by
contributions from fans like you. And, as principal photography marches forward, now is the time when the Mihmiverse needs your
contributions the most!
For each $20.00 donation, all
contributors will be entitled to having a single name
* of their choosing listed in the
contributors section of the closing credits of the film and a customized, frame-able document certifying their

NOT automatically included with a basic
contribution. If you would like to be guaranteed a DVD or Blu-Ray of the film when it is released, you

THIS MONTH IN MIHMIVERSE HISTORY
Since the films of Christopher R. Mihm have existed for over 15 years, we figured digging into them would make for an entertaining addition to this newsletter! Thus, in this new section, aptly titled
This Month in Mihmiverse History, we'll traipse through the "days of Mihmiverse past" and present some of the most interesting events!
In June of 2007, "
It Came From Another World!" screened at the Micon 8 Cinemas in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. At this particular event, a group of fans brought props, including playing cards, "alien eyeballs," and canoe paddles, and turned the experience into a makeshift "
Rocky Horror Picture Show." It also resulted in one of the best Mihmiverse-related photos ever taken. Check it out below!
In 2008, it was originally announced that the film to come after "
Cave Women on Mars" would be called "
Attack of the Killer Robot." In mid-June, it was revealed that writer/director Christopher R. Mihm was going to make a film called "
Escape from Planet X" instead. Neither film was ever made, with the actual next movie ending up being "
Terror from Beneath the Earth" (released in May of 2009).
"
House of Ghosts" was released in late May of 2012. Less than two weeks later (in June), it received its first official review and the text of it included one of the best things ever said about the films of the Mihmiverse: "...[Mihm's films] are done for pocket money, but look like they cost the mortgage and are far more entertaining than studio efforts that cost hundreds of millions. They are like homemade cookies. They're just better than store bought."
The first Mihmiverse Blu-Rays for "
House of Ghosts" and "
The Giant Spider" were released in June of 2013. These first Blu-Rays included only the film and were burned by writer/director Christopher R. Mihm using his computer!
Principal photography of "
The Phantom Lake Kids in The Unseen Invasion" wrapped up in early June of 2020. Having begun only two months prior, this marked the shortest amount of time it has ever taken to film a Mihmiverse film. This, of course, was only made possible by the fact that the entire cast and crew were stuck in a Covid "quarantine bubble" at the time and really didn't have much else to do!
After being delayed by the Covid pandemic, "
The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us" was finally released digitally in 2021. Currently, no other Mihmiverse film has been released in the month of June.

Welcome to the
Mihmiverse Monthly feature where we talk to
YOU, the fans! Every month, we choose a random Mihmivite and ask them a few Mihmiverse-related questions in an attempt to get to know them better and find out what they
REALLY think about the films of Christopher R. Mihm!
This month, we interview Chuck & Alberta Holloway!
Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
Hello Mihmiverse! I'm Alberta (AKA Bobbie), 74 years old (I'll be 75 on July 5th!), and a female disabled Air Force veteran as a Law Enforcement Instructor and agent. I've worked for Ringling Bros Circus in the aerial ballet, as dancer and an elephant rider. I've worked for two veterans' organizations for a combined 27 years helping other veterans fight the VA for benefits. I should also mention that, in my much earlier years, I was with a dance group that got to dance at a gorilla's wedding! Yes, I know that sounds weird, but it's true!
My husband is Charles (Chuck) and turned 78-years-young on April 25thwhich means he shares a birthdate with writer/director Christopher R. Mihm, albeit a few years apart! He was a radio operator in the Navy and worked for Disney for 29 years before retiring. He's a Florida native and knows more about being in the woods than ol' Daniel Boone himself!
We've been married for 24 years, are great big fans of the Mihmiverse, and love fishing, camping, and anything tropical! We have two incredible pups, Sasha and Chewie who will honestly sit and watch the movies with us! We lost our little girl Roxie over the rainbow bridge 6 years ago, but she is still much loved.
When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
I have always been obsessed with old sci-fi and scary movies of the '50s and '60s. I was lucky enough to have a grandmother
who worked at a theatre when I was a child, so I was able to get into the movies free and sit all day. This is when I discovered Vincent Price,
giant spiders, gila monsters, giant leeches, and other creepy crawlies of my favorite era!
These days, we really don't watch regular TV anymore, but we always look for film noir and retro movies by perusing through Roku channels. One day while doing this, I saw a channel with a retro-looking monster on it and saved it to my channels. As I looked at the titles, I realized I didn't recognize any of themwhich was great!
We first started watching a movie called "
Queen of Snakes" and our first thought was, "What the heck is this?" It was something different and new... but also
NOT new! After watching that, we decided to watch a second: "
The Giant Spider." Afterwards we thought, "Okay, that was really, really incredible!" We had to know who was making these films, so we decided to investigate further and started reading up on what exactly Mihmiverse was, who writer/director Christopher R. Mihm was, and why he was making these kinds of films. The more we learned, the more we fell in love with what we were seeing!
If you had to pick just ONE, which of the Mihmiverse films would be your favorite?
This is truly a difficult question for us. If we really have to choose, we would have to go with "
The Giant Spider." The special effects are utterly fantastic. We love the entire premise of the movie, the old cars, and the actors!
Ultimately though, it's a tough decision to have to pick just one because we really have so many favoritesand the Canoe Cops are fantastic! Plus, all of the actors, young and old, are special and have such great depths of talent.
Tell us how you, in particular, show your "Mihmiverse pride!"
For a start, as you can see from the photo above, we own Mihmiverse shirts. We also have a table in our entryway that displays our Mihmiverse objects, which range from a Steve People puppet, "
The Giant Spider" lunchbox, the Mihmiverse wall calendar, our full collections of DVDs, and other collectibles. Everyone who enters our home is exposed to the Mihmiverse!
Where would you like to see the Mihmiverse go in the future?
We seriously love the Mihmiverse the way it is, and just want more of it! What Mr. Mihm does is so special. Other filmmakers seem to need to include over-the-top gore, graphic sexual content (or a least strong references to it), and/or seriously bad language in their films to get attention. To each their own, of course, and we are not prudes by any means.
However, the Mihmiverse consistently proves that you can create fun, funny, and high quality movies without resorting to shock value!
It's clear writer/director Christopher R. Mihm garnishes each of his movies with loveand it shows! He really seems to care so much about what he does and we believe he cares about the people who stand by him and his work. That is a forever quality!

Attack of the Film Zombies!
According to IMDb.com, there have been 4,207 Zombie or Zombie-related movies and TV shows created over the past hundred years.
Interestingly, only 49 of those were released before 1950. Then, if you take away the small handful of titles from the birth of television, circa 1948-50, and include only films that actually have the word "Zombie" in the title, the total drops to just 7!
This month, we're highlighting those 7! If you can match match the plot descriptions to the films, you can avoid the Zombie Apocalypse, and become the head cheese, so to speak! Good luck!
1. "White Zombies" (1932)
2. "Revolt of the Zombies" (1936)
3. "King of the Zombies" (1941)
4. "I Walked with a Zombie" (1943)
5. "Revenge of the Zombies" (1943)
6. "Zombies on Broadway" (1945)
7. "
Valley of the Zombies" (1946)
A. Ormond Murks is not really a Zombie. He's a vampire who doesn't bite necks to get his blood, and dresses like the Phantom of the Opera. The film is part horror, and part comedy.
B. A young man asked a witch doctor to lure the woman he loves away from her fiancé. Instead, he gets a zombie slave. Bela Lugosi stars.
C. Two press agents are tasked to find a zombie to settle a commitment made to a gangster. Bela Lugosi stars in this one, too.
D. Shortly after the death of Scott Warrington's sister Lila, Scott and detective Larry Adams visit an old mansion in the Louisiana Swamp to meet Scott's brother-in-law, Dr, Max von Alterman, a Nazi who has secretly been creating Zombies for the Third Reich. Guess what happened to Lila. John Carradine stars.
E. On a spooky island, stranded travelers discover an evil doctor working with foreign spies to create zombies. The poster for the film promised: "HUMAN SACRIFICES! SAVAGE TORTURE! VOODOO RITES!"
F. A nurse is hired to care for the wife of a plantation owner on a Caribbean island, and strange things begin to happen. Believe it or not, the story was based on Jane Eyre.
G. An international expedition heads to Cambodia to search forand destroyan ancient formula that turns men into zombies. Bela Lugosi is in this one, toobriefly.

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
Invasion of the Saucer-Men (1957)
Directed by
Edward CahnStarring
Steven Terrell and
Gloria Castillo
It's a dark night and a pair of 35-year-old teenagers (as most were in classic 1950s B-grade cinema) are on their way to lover's lane. They keep their lights off in fear of the crotchety, giant-shotgun-toting farmer who owns the land on which the make-out spot sits. In the distance, an alien spacecraft lands. One of its creepy, bug-eyed inhabitants exits and begins to scout around. As the alien and the headlight-less vehicle cross paths, the creature is unceremoniously killed. What follows is a preposterously goofy and altogether fun story involving an opportunistic businessman, horny teenagers, inept army guys, menacing three-foot-tall, needle-fingered aliens, the local police department, and one inebriated bull. Though the production values of this film are in the very-low-budget range, the alien design (and the film's poster) are iconic to the "classic drive-in" era. "
Invasion of the Saucer Men" was originally intended to be a serious alien invasion movie but, at some point during production it became an outright comedy. As a result, the film occasionally feels somewhat uneven. Aside from that, the final product is quite funny. If you can somehow find a copy of this film (it'll most likely be a bootleg, as the rights have been tied up for decades), check it out. It's a perfect example of the particular kind of cheesiness that I, as a filmmaker, strive to re-create!

Most of the films of the Mihmiverse are available on Amazon Video. Sadly, as Amazon continues to revise and rewrite its policies, they have downgraded the entire Mihmiverse catalog from "available with Prime" to rental only. Though this wasn't entirely unexpectedgiven the way the service has been slowly ridding itself of the films of Christopher R. Mihmwe
CANNOT guarantee they will still be there on any given day! So, if Amazon is your preferred place to watch the Mihmiverse, enjoy it while it lasts!
NOTE: Amazon has barred writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (and
MANY other independent filmmakers) from adding any new films to their service. As far as we have been able to figure out, the service is taking a more "curated" approach to its catalog and, unfortunately, does not have any more room for the cheesy goodness of the Mihmiverse! Therefore, if you're interested in watching the newest films of the Mihmiverse, we highly recommend checking out the Mihmiverse Roku channel,
Drive-in Monsters!
