CURRENT NEWS
ANNIHILATE ALL HUMANS!

Though the biggest Mihmiverse-related news is the world premiere of the last Phantom Lake Kids movie coming at the end of this month, principal photography of the NEXT Mihmiverse film, "Annihilate All Humans!," is well on its way!

To date, a handful of scenes involving the four main characters (Mike Cook as Dr. Edwards, James Norgard as Dr. Gabriel, Mark Haider as General Castle, and Tyler Haines as Agar) and a few others NOT involving those actors have been committed to "film." In addition, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has put out a call on social media for folks LIKE YOU who might be interested in appearing in the movie! All you have to do is get some friends and family together and shoot a little video!

Whatever you film, make sure you follow these rules:

First, wear 1950s/early 60s-ish era appropriate clothes. Second, film in front of an era-appropriate or neutral background—basically avoid things like modern cars, billboards, and/or 21st-century technology. Film your "scene" using a smartphone or video camera that can handle 1080 HD video—just make sure if you use a smartphone, you shoot in landscape mode. Mr. Mihm cannot use anything shot in an "up and down" portrait mode. Use as many or as few people as you want and simply recreate a classic B-movie "crowd running away from a threat" scene. Scream and holler if you'd like, but if you don't want to or can't, screams will be added over your video.

For a good idea of what Mr. Mihm is looking for, watch this scene from the 1958 classic "The Blob!"

If you'd like to potentially be "vaporized" in the movie, film a NON-MOVING shot of you running into frame, looking up, and pausing for the dissolve and laser beam special effect. Then, leave the frame and allow about ten seconds of an empty frame (which is used for the dissolving vaporization special effect). It doesn't matter how you shoot it as long as it uses a 16:9 aspect ratio (which is standard for any phone when filming in widescreen), is filmed in at least 1080p HD, and is a STATIC SHOT. Make sure your phone/video camera DOES NOT MOVE for any "vaporization" videos or the special effect will not be possible and your video will not be included in the film.

Your video may end up as part of a "news broadcast" in the film and may be "visually downgraded" to look like an old black & white TV broadcast. Whatever you do, make sure everything is filmed outside during daylight hours! Video submissions will be needed by the end of July/early August! To submit your video, contact us by sending an email to info@sainteuphoria.com and we will coordinate a method by which to receive your video! Have fun with it and keep in mind: the most interesting videos will have a much greater chance of ending up in the finished film!

IMPORTANT! Submitting a video DOES NOT guarantee it will appear in the movie. However, we will do our best to include as many as possible! Any person appearing in any video which "makes the cut" will be required to sign an image/likeness release form. If anyone appearing in any video you submit refuses to sign a release form, your video WILL NOT be included under any circumstances, so make sure everyone is onboard with this BEFORE you start shooting!

Don't forget, the Mihmiverse is only made possible by contributions from fans like you. And, as principal photography marches forward, now is the time when the Mihmiverse needs your contributions the most!

In "Annihilate All Humans!," the world is under attack by flying saucers and only top scientists (Dr. Edwards and Dr. Gabriel) can put an end to their unearthly aggression! Unfortunately, they have no idea it's even happening because they've been kidnapped by General Castle and taken to a remote cabin deep in the woods for some unsolicited rest & relaxation! Can our heroes find their way back to civilization in time to stop the alien menace, or will the seemingly unstoppable space invaders succeed in their quest to ANNIHILATE ALL HUMANS!?

For each $20.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name* of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film and a customized, frame-able document certifying their contribution!

IMPORTANT! Physical media copies of the finished film are NOT automatically included with a basic contribution. If you would like to be guaranteed a DVD or Blu-Ray of the film when it is released, you MUST order it separately (with the purchase of at least one credit)!

Credits can even be given as gifts! Imagine the looks on the faces of your loved ones when they find out their names will be immortalized on the silver screen!

THIS MONTH IN MIHMIVERSE HISTORY
Since the films of Christopher R. Mihm have existed for over 15 years, we figured digging into them would make for an entertaining addition to this newsletter! Thus, in this new section, aptly titled This Month in Mihmiverse History, we'll traipse through the "days of Mihmiverse past" and present some of the most interesting events!

July traditionally tends to be the quietest month for Mihmiverse news updates but, regardless of that fact, some pretty exciting things have happened during July in previous years. In 2019, the first teaser image of the title monster of "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us" was released! Check it out below!

The biggest and most unique Mihmiverse happening to ever transpire occurred in July of 2016: "The Monster of Phantom Lake: The Musical!" opened at the Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts in Menomonie, WI and blew away everyone in attendance! If you weren't lucky enough to be present for this life-altering event, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm filmed the entire run of the play and edited his footage into the "The Monster of Phantom Lake: The Musical!" performance DVD! The performance can also be enjoyed at Vimeo!

On July 30th, 2015, before a screening of "Danny Johnson Saves the World" writer/director Christopher R. Mihm, flanked by a vampire woman, the bride of Frankenstein and a gorilla (man-in-suit, of course), was presented with a key to the city of Forest Lake, MN, by Mayor Stev Stegner and the day was proclaimed to be "Minnesota Filmmaker Christopher R. Mihm Day!"

"The Giant Spider" screened as part of a double-feature with the 1958 B-movie, "The Blob," at the historic Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, PA, at an event called Blobfest, which celebrates the town's connection to the classic film. By all accounts, the event was a roaring success and the Mihmiverse was invited back to the annual event two more times!

Principal photography of arguably the most popular Mihmiverse film to date, "The Giant Spider," began on July 19th, 2012. The movie was released the following May and continues to screen at events across the world and remains the most streamed of all of Mr. Mihm's works.

As far as we know, the only time a Mihmiverse film screened in Denmark was when "Attack of the Moon Zombies" was shown at the Esperanto World Congress event in mid-July of 2011!

MIHMIVERSE FAN FOCUS
Welcome to the Mihmiverse Monthly feature where we talk to YOU, the fans! Every month, we choose a random Mihmivite and ask them a few Mihmiverse-related questions in an attempt to get to know them better and find out what they REALLY think about the films of Christopher R. Mihm!

This month, we interview Jess Hurley!

Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
Hey Mihmiverse fans! My name is Jess Hurley and I am from Denver, CO, but I live in Phoenix, AZ where I work as a production analyst. I didn't grow up on black and white movies, but I fell in love with them around 2014 and really started watching a bunch in the past year or so. Sci-fi has always been my thing (which is kind of my dad's fault), but I am thankful he got me into it. I do like horror, but the newer, more realistic stuff just isn't my thing. The Mihmiverse offers everything I love about film.

When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
I actually discovered the Mihmiverse on Amazon Prime. At that time they were offering quite a few films and I just loved them. I was just starting to really increase the catalog of 1950s films I had time to check out. As I watched more, my appreciation of what writer/director Christopher R. Mihm was doing with his work increased.

If you had to pick just ONE, which of the Mihmiverse films would be your favorite?
Picking a favorite is tough, but I love giant bug stuff like "The Deadly Mantis," "Beginning of the End" and "The Black Scorpion." So, if you're going to be throwing a giant spider movie at me, I am going to be all about that. Therefore, my favorite has to be "The Giant Spider!

Tell us how you, in particular, show your "Mihmiverse pride!"
I show my Mihmiverse pride mostly via talking about the movies in various movie groups on social media. I also get my family members to watch the movies whenever I can. Honestly though, in addition to buying the Mihmiverse DVDs as they come out, my goal is to at some point get involved financially.

Where would you like to see the Mihmiverse go in the future?
As far as the future, I would love to see more aliens, of course. I would also love to see more giant creatures—or anything, really!—maybe a 50-foot-tall-man-type movie? As far as ideas, what about escaped cavemen, a two headed mummy, a bio engineered cauliflower monster, or anything fish-monster related. What about something like "Night of the Tax Attorney Ghouls?" Okay, I will settle down! The sci-fi is the limit and whatever Mr. Mihm does, I can't wait!
Want to be interviewed for a future edition of the Mihmiverse Fan Focus? Send an email to info@sainteuphoria.com and let us know! Maybe next month the subject will be YOU!
THE TRIVIA CORNER
There are hundreds of monster movies & TV shows listed on IMDb, and many of them actually have the the word "Monster" in the title—like "The Monster of Phantom Lake," for example!

The 1950s were especially full of cheesy "monster-in-the-title" movies, and this month, we're diving into what's out there!

As always, You have a list of films and a list of plotlines. If you can line them up correctly, you'll earn title title of Master Monster Matcher!

Here goes:

1. "Robot Monster" (1953)
2. "Bride of the Monster" (1955)
3. "Monster From Green Hell" (1957)
4. "The Monster That Challenged the World" (1957)
5. "Monster on the Campus" (1958)
6. "How to Make a Monster" (1958)
7. "The Giant Gila Monster" (1959)

A. An alien that looks like a gorilla in a diving helmet has killed all but six people on Earth—then falls in love with one of them.
B. Giant mutated wasps—from Africa!
C. Prehistoric mollusks attack California's Imperial Valley!
D. Hot rods, a record hop and a giant monster that dines on teenagers. Sounds like...yum!
E. The blood of a primitive fish is exposed to gamma rays, and turns a scientist into a bloodthirsty monster.
F. When a makeup artist is fired from a movie studio, he gets revenge with hypnosis and chemicals.
G. Bela Lugosi plays an evil doctor hell bent on using atomic power to turn regular people into super beings. Tor Johnson plays "Lobo." Now where have we heard that name before...?

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
Gorgo (1961)
Directed by Eugène Lourié
Starring Bill Travers and William Sylvester

It's a story as old as time (or at least as old as the "Godzilla" series): a volcano erupts, a gigantic prehistoric lizard-like monster (the title creature) is awakened from its slumber, and is unleashed upon the populace of an unsuspecting city (London). Landmarks are destroyed (Tower Bridge and Big Ben), people flee in terror, the army is called in, oversized-monster-mayhem ensues and a band of likeable heroes try to save the day by whatever means available. What the story lacks in originality, it makes up for in fun, incorporating familiar elements of other "gargantuan creature" films (particularly "King Kong"). The film even includes a twist concerning the "age" of the creature, but you won't necessarily see it coming if you avoid spoilers entirely. The British-made film is pure cheese through-and-through and is all the better for it, with a great monster design and wonderful special effects. If you're even remotely a fan of the "Godzilla" series (or '50s/'60s era B-movies in general) and have never seen "Gorgo," it's a surprisingly "good/bad" time! Yes, the film is clearly an imitator—but it's a good one, and worth checking out! AND, a little-known fact: "Gorgo" spawned a comic-book series in the early 1960s that lasted 23 issues and is now worth a decent amount!

STREAM THE MIHMIVERSE
If you're like most people these days, you tend to stream your favorite TV shows and movies, particularly because it's way more convenient and you have access to them in more places! Did you know that there are now several places to stream the entire Mihmiverse catalog?

From the movie that started it all, "The Monster of Phantom Lake," to its musical offshoot, "The Monster of Phantom Lake: The Musical!," and "The Mihmiverse Holiday Special," everything you need to "visit" the denizens of Phantom Lake County is available for your streaming pleasure!

The ENTIRE filmography of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (including the recently-released "The Mihmiverse Holiday Special") is available through the Mihmiverse Vimeo VOD portal!

Every film is presented using the same ultra high-quality renders used for the official Blu-Ray releases and actually feeds video content to the Drive-in Monsters Roku channel. Most importantly, the Mihmiverse Vimeo VOD portal is the ONLY PLACE to legally own the films digitally!

Retro-style monster movies from the wild & weird imagination of cult filmmaker Christopher R. Mihm! From giant, rampaging spiders to alien invasions and bug-eyed horrors, the Drive-in Monsters channel includes the entire catalog of Mr. Mihm's films, exclusive extras, and long lost special features originally released on currently out-of-print physical media! Explore the worldwide, underground cult phenomenon known as the "Mihmiverse" and enjoy the rebirth of the golden age of "drive-in cinema" with the Drive-in Monsters channel!

As of right now, the channel is free... but, that most likely will not last forever! So make sure to enjoy the Drive-in Monsters Roku channel while it's still completely free of charge!

Most of the films of the Mihmiverse are available on Amazon Video. Sadly, as Amazon continues to revise and rewrite its policies, they have downgraded the entire Mihmiverse catalog from "available with Prime" to rental only. Though this wasn't entirely unexpected—given the way the service has been slowly ridding itself of the films of Christopher R. Mihm—we CANNOT guarantee they will still be there on any given day! So, if Amazon is your preferred place to watch the Mihmiverse, enjoy it while it lasts!

NOTE: Amazon has barred writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (and MANY other independent filmmakers) from adding any new films to their service. As far as we have been able to figure out, the service is taking a more "curated" approach to its catalog and, unfortunately, does not have any more room for the cheesy goodness of the Mihmiverse! Therefore, if you're interested in watching the newest films of the Mihmiverse, we highly recommend checking out the Mihmiverse Roku channel, Drive-in Monsters!
