CURRENT NEWS
As the days grow shorter, the leaves start to change color, and the temperatures begin to drop, the Mihmiverse continues to churn ever-forward!

Principal photography of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's "flying saucer attack" epic, "Annihilate All Humans!," is nearing its end! As of the publication date of this newsletter, there are only three days left to shoot scenes with the main cast. According to Mr. Mihm, after that there'll be nothing left to film but a LOT of special effects. We don't know about you, but we cannot wait to see how this new project comes together!

Below you'll find another still from the new film provided to us by All for George Productions. If there was ANY question as to what this movie is about, this image DEFINITELY tells you exactly what you need to know! Also... that person in the foreground looks vaguely familiar...

In "Annihilate All Humans!," the world is under attack by flying saucers and only top scientists (Dr. Edwards and Dr. Gabriel) can put an end to their unearthly aggression! Unfortunately, they have no idea it's even happening because they've been kidnapped by General Castle and taken to a remote cabin deep in the woods for some unsolicited rest & relaxation! Can our heroes find their way back to civilization in time to stop the alien menace, or will the seemingly unstoppable space invaders succeed in their quest to ANNIHILATE ALL HUMANS!?

Ever since 2010's "Destination: Outer Space," production of the films of the Mihmiverse has been entirely funded by contributions from individual fans like you—and "Annihilate All Humans!" is no different! The production is in desperate need of contributions to stay afloat—ESPECIALLY now that it's in the midst of principal photography!

For each $20.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name* of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film and a customized, frame-able document certifying their contribution!

IMPORTANT! Physical media copies of the finished film are NOT automatically included with a basic contribution. If you would like to be guaranteed a DVD or Blu-Ray of the film when it is released, you MUST order it separately (with the purchase of at least one credit)!

Credits can even be given as gifts! Imagine the looks on the faces of your loved ones when they find out their names will be immortalized on the silver screen!

THIS MONTH IN MIHMIVERSE HISTORY
Since the films of Christopher R. Mihm have existed for over 15 years, we figured digging into them would make for an entertaining addition to this newsletter! Thus, in this new section, aptly titled This Month in Mihmiverse History, we'll traipse through the "days of Mihmiverse past" and present some of the most interesting events!

Even though writer/director Christopher R. Mihm tried to AVOID cutting a trailer for "The Mihmiverse Holiday Special," Vimeo actually required one to be able to post the title on their service for its digital premiere. Therefore, Mr. Mihm created the following trailer and released it in late October of 2021. Check it out below and then, in anticipation of the forthcoming holiday season, order your own copy of the special HERE!

In October of 2019, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm commissioned the first-ever official Mihmiverse promotional photo seen below. Taken by Christi Jean Williams (Mrs. Davis in "Queen of Snakes") of Grinkie Photography, the photo depicts Mr. Mihm surrounded by several creatures in his movies and was originally conceived to pay homage to photos of Jim Henson taken surrounded by his creations, The Muppets! Want to own an 8" x 10" copy of this photo signed by writer/director Christopher R. Mihm? Order one below for only $9.99 (plus $4.99 shipping & handling)!

Signed Mihmiverse Monsters 8" x 10" Photo

A lobby card set for the 2017 Mihmiverse film, "Demon with the Atomic Brain," was released a week after the movie held its world premiere. Despite continued fan interest, this was the last Mihmiverse film to be honored with a set of these rare collectibles.

In October of 2013, "The Giant Spider," scored a hat trick at the third annual Highway 61 Film Festival in Pine City, MN, by winning first place in the "Action/Horror Feature" category. This was the third Mihmiverse film in as many years to do so, hence "hat trick," a term used in hockey to refer to a person scoring three goals in one game. Since the festival's inception in 2011, no other filmmaker has ever won an award three years in a row!

"The Monster of Phantom Lake" screened at the 2006 Jack-o-Lantern Jaunt in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, the home of the REAL Phantom Lake and hometown of the first lady of the Mihmiverse, Stephanie Mihm. Since then, screening the latest Mihmiverse movie at this annual charity event has become a tradition. This year will be no different as "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Day the Earth Abruptly Almost Ended" shows at this year's 'Jaunt on October 14th & 15th! For more information about this year's event, go HERE!

MIHMIVERSE FAN FOCUS
Welcome to the Mihmiverse Monthly feature where we talk to YOU, the fans! Every month, we choose a random Mihmivite and ask them a few Mihmiverse-related questions in an attempt to get to know them better and find out what they REALLY think about the films of Christopher R. Mihm!

This month, we interview Julio Ovalle-Medellin!

Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
Hello everyone, my name is Julio Ovalle-Medellin, I was born in Mexico, but grew up in Texas and now reside in Arizona. After 30 years of service, I retired from the US Army and now spend my time working as a US Army contract instructor. While growing up, I enjoyed watching monster and sci-fi movies—especially B-rated movies! Every weekend, I would watch movies until the channel signed off. Among those movies that I must watch once a year are: "Godzilla," "Mothra," "Gamera," "Dracula," "The Wolfman," "Creature from the Black Lagoon," "The Outer Limits," "The Twilight Zone," and "Battlestar Galactica." I especially love the older black and white B-rated films with simple story lines and great-looking monsters. They just spent more time and effort in telling a story instead of unnecessary violence and bloody gore. Now, thanks to web-streaming channels, I can re-watch many of those movies while finding new ones like the films of the Mihmiverse!

When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
I can't recall the exact date, but it was definitely a Friday in 2018 and I was looking through the recommended movies on my streaming device and noticed "The Monster of Phantom Lake." (I was actually looking for the "Creature from the Black Lagoon.") I read the summary and thought to myself, "Okay, this sounds interesting." I had to stop the movie many times to run upstairs and tell my daughters about the scenes and, most importantly, the extra details in the closed captions. Watching this movie led me to other Mihmiverse recommendations and I was hooked. Later, I discovered that the Mihmverse channel (Drive-in Monsters) was available on Roku. Now I spend less time searching for what to watch next!

If you had to pick just ONE, which of the Mihmiverse films would be your favorite?
I must confess that I have not watched all the movies yet, but have seen several of them at least three times. My favorite is definitely "Attack of the Moon Zombies." I really enjoy the story line, the action scenes, and, most of all, the zombie costumes. It brings together so many of my "must-have" details for a sci-fi movie: set in space, deadly space creatures, leaking nuclear reactors, and trapped crew-members. If I could purchase one Mihmverse costume for Halloween, it would definitely be a moon zombie!

Tell us how you, in particular, show your "Mihmiverse pride!"
My Mihmverse pride has several sides. First, I invite every member of my family to watch the movies with me. I start them off with "Attack of the Moon Zombies." The kids were easy pickings, but my wife took a while to get to sit down and watch a movie. (I'm still working on her.) Second, I purchased two t-shirts with Mihmverse monsters on them. I wear them on weekends when I walk my dog or during breakfast while staying at a hotel. The monster t-shirts I chose are, of course, "Attack of the Moon Zombies" and "The Monster of Phantom Lake." Finally, I established a back-up plan: I purchased the entire set, so that I can watch Mihmiverse movies even if the internet goes down or we get overrun by moon zombies, or a giant spider... or aliens!

Where would you like to see the Mihmiverse go in the future?
I am into monsters and space creatures. Therefore, I would definitely love to see more movies about the creatures that live in the Wisawa Cave System. There are just so many potential stories and great creatures to be developed. Likewise, I would love to see more of the Canoe Cops and their adventures patrolling the lake. I am sure they get their fair share of trouble. Finally, I would like to see the communist plot that Sven and Gustav foiled—unless I've said too much!

If it is not too far-fetched, I would like to see Halloween costumes based on the Mihmiverse monsters and characters.

THE TRIVIA CORNER
Trivia—in 3-D!

3-D films were quite the fad in the early '50s, with 41 3-D films made in 1953 alone! For the most part, they were cheesy, gimmicky, and thanks to optical trickery and poorly constructed 3-D glasses, headache inducing.

I have chosen five 3-D films from 1953, each featuring a horror or sci-fi theme.

In list one, you've been given a title. In list #2, you've been given 3 very short clues.

It's not an easy quiz, but if you can match them all up, you'll get 3 stars. If not, you'll get a "D!"

1. "Cat-Women of the Moon"
2. "House of Wax"
3. "It Came From Outer Space"
4. "Robot Monster"
5. "The Maze"

A. Wheelchair, Guillotine, Igor
B. Meteorite, Helicopter, Abandoned Mine
C. Eight Humans, Cosmic June rays, Prehistoric Reptiles
D. Unitards, Telepathy, Modern Dancing
E. Scottish Castle, A Giant Toad, A Book About Teratology

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
Night of the Blood Beast (1958)
Directed by Bernard L. Kowalski
Starring John Baer and Angela Greene

Humanity has finally sent a man into space aboard a "satellite" (yes, that's what they call it in this movie) but, on re-entry, the satellite crashes and seemingly kills its sole occupant. Or does it? A small team of doctors and scientists examine the wreckage and bring the astronaut's body back to a secret lab only to find that he doesn't seem to be completely dead! Eventually he "wakes up," only to find he is harboring baby aliens in his gut. The alien's mother shows up, kills one of the scientists and then, well... do I have to continue? Overall, the film is pretty flimsy in all the right ways. There are good classic movies and then there are "so-bad-they're-good" films. This one falls squarely in the latter category and it's all the better for it! The laugh-out-loud-bad "alien monster" costume and the unusually dark ending definitely make this worth a viewing!

STREAM THE MIHMIVERSE
If you're like most people these days, you tend to stream your favorite TV shows and movies, particularly because it's way more convenient and you have access to them in more places! Did you know there are now several places to stream the entire Mihmiverse catalog?

From the movie that started it all, "The Monster of Phantom Lake," to its musical offshoot, "The Monster of Phantom Lake: The Musical!," and "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Day the Earth Abruptly Almost Ended," everything you need to "visit" the denizens of Phantom Lake County is available for your streaming pleasure!

The ENTIRE filmography of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (including the recently-released "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Day the Earth Abruptly Almost Ended") is available through the Mihmiverse Vimeo VOD portal!

Every film is presented using the same ultra high-quality renders used for the official Blu-Ray releases and actually feeds video content to the Drive-in Monsters Roku channel. Most importantly, the Mihmiverse Vimeo VOD portal is the ONLY PLACE to legally own the films digitally!

Retro-style monster movies from the wild & weird imagination of cult filmmaker Christopher R. Mihm! From giant, rampaging spiders to alien invasions and bug-eyed horrors, the Drive-in Monsters channel includes the entire catalog of Mr. Mihm's films, exclusive extras, and long lost special features originally released on currently out-of-print physical media! Explore the worldwide, underground cult phenomenon known as the "Mihmiverse" and enjoy the rebirth of the golden age of "drive-in cinema" with the Drive-in Monsters channel!

As of right now, the channel is free... but, that most likely will not last forever! So make sure to enjoy the Drive-in Monsters Roku channel while it's still completely free of charge!

Most of the films of the Mihmiverse are available on Amazon Video. Sadly, as Amazon continues to revise and rewrite its policies, they have downgraded the entire Mihmiverse catalog from "available with Prime" to rental only. Though this wasn't entirely unexpected—given the way the service has been slowly ridding itself of the films of Christopher R. Mihm—we CANNOT guarantee they will still be there on any given day! So, if Amazon is your preferred place to watch the Mihmiverse, enjoy it while it lasts!

NOTE: Amazon has barred writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (and MANY other independent filmmakers) from adding any new films to their service. As far as we have been able to figure out, the service is taking a more "curated" approach to its catalog and, unfortunately, does not have any more room for the cheesy goodness of the Mihmiverse! Therefore, if you're interested in watching the newest films of the Mihmiverse, we highly recommend checking out the Mihmiverse Roku channel, Drive-in Monsters!
