CURRENT NEWS
IT'S MONSTER MIHMIVERSE MONTH!

Since August tends to be a lazy, quiet month—it doesn't even contain any holidays!—writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has decided to "spice things up" by declaring August "Monster Mihmiverse Month" over at the Mihmiverse Patreon!

What exactly is "Monster Mihmiverse Month?" It's a full month of DAILY updates over at the Mihmiverse Patreon space. Since this is the first time Mr. Mihm is attempting this, we're not sure what kinds of updates to expect. However, we've been informed that it will include regular features like Bad Poetry Wednesday and Mihmiverse Cheese & Chit-Chat AND exclusive audio and video content you will not see ANYWHERE else!

If you want to participate in "Monster Mihmiverse Month," make sure to become a member of the Mihmiverse Patreon! You don't have to be a full-fledged Basic Monster Member, to enjoy SOME of the frequent updates this month. BUT, if you want to see ALL of it, you will need to be!

THE MIHMIVERSE MARCHES EVER ONWARD!

Principal photography of "Gnome!," the second segment of the currently-in-production Mihmiverse anthology film, "The Wandering Creature (and Other Tales)," has officially begun! Writer/director Christopher R. Mihm sent us the following still as proof!

The image doesn't reveal much of anything about the story other than that it does, in fact, include a gnome (of the garden variety)! In all honesty, it seems like it'd be strange if it DIDN'T include at least one! We don't know much about this segment of the new film, but we've been told that a couple of recognizable characters will be mixed in with a few new ones. If the weather cooperates, it is hoped that the filming of the "Gnome!" segment will wrap up early this month. Principal photography of the third segment, "Panic at the Hot Dog Festival," is scheduled to start shortly thereafter!

Between filming dates, Mr. Mihm has kept busy by editing the first segment, "The Hand That Wouldn't Die." The production is very much on schedule, with plans for a release in the summer of 2026!

Don't forget that contributor credits are available! As has been stated repeatedly in the past few months, making an anthology movie is turning out to be a unique and expensive undertaking. Therefore, the production needs all the monetary help it can get from fans like yourself!

The Wandering Creature (and Other Tales)
In the next great Mihmiverse film, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm takes a stab (pun intended) at an anthology movie in the vein of "Twilight Zone: The Movie," "Trilogy of Terror," and "Creepshow," albeit in his signature retro-B-movie style! In a series of linked, short tales-of-horror, an unmanned spacecraft returning from the asteroid Vesta breaks-up upon re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere and scatters sample containers across Phantom Lake County! Not-so-unexpectedly (particularly for a Mihmiverse movie), contact with the mysterious, otherworldly contents of these canisters create a whole host of terrifying creatures like mushroom monsters, killer garden gnomes, and more! Can the local population survive such shocking encounters, or will this be the end of all life in Phantom Lake County!?

As has been reiterated year-after-year, the Mihmiverse is only made possible by contributions from fans like you. And, as this new project enters the production stage, now is the time when the Mihmiverse needs contributions the most!

For each $25.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film, and a customized, frame-able document certifying their contribution! Credits can even be given as gifts! Imagine the looks on the faces of your loved ones when they find out their names will be immortalized on the silver screen!

A single credit is defined as the name of one (1) person or corporate entity. Any credit requiring the word "and," an ampersand (&), and/or a comma (except when part of a legal company name) will constitute multiple credits and MUST BE paid for separately. Contributors have NO SAY in the decisions or actions taken by anyone involved in the actual production of the film and are NOT entitled to ANY possible future profits earned by the film, derivative works, and/or merchandise created for or featuring elements from the film. Becoming an contributor does not entitle the participant to ANY ownership WHATSOEVER of the finished film or associated elements.

NOTE: Physical media copies of the finished film are NOT included with contributions. If you would like to receive DVDs and/or Blu-Rays of the film when it is released, you MUST pre-order them separately. We reserve the right to refuse any credit we deem inappropriate. All refused credits will be refunded.

DONATE TO THE NEW FILM FEST FUND!

One of the ways people discover the films of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm is through film festival screenings, but almost every festival out there charges an entry fee, which generally ranges from $20-$150 per film submitted—and there is no guarantee of acceptance!

The Mihmiverse has been the passion project of one very dedicated guy for over 20 years but, sadly, it's never been a particularly lucrative endeavor. As a result, film fests have been mostly financially out-of-reach. However, on those rare occasions over the years when Saint Euphoria Pictures/All for George Productions found itself with a little extra cash on-hand, it became possible to submit the films to various festivals.

A decent number of those entries were accepted and led to a handful of awards and accolades, including the coveted Forest J. Ackerman Award for "The Giant Spider" at the 2013 Famous Monsters of Filmland Film Festival, Director's Choice for "The Monster of Phantom Lake" at the 2006 ShockerFest International Film Festival, Best Actress (Amanda Tietz, "Demon with the Atomic Brain") at the 2019 CineUnderground Film Festival in Busto Arsizio, Italy, Best Mockumentary for "The Wad: The True Story Behind the Phantom Lake County Chewing Gum Disaster" at the 2024 Care Awards Film Festival, and many more!

As the Mihmiverse enters its third decade of cheesy monster movies, Mr. Mihm is looking to really expand the reach of his movie universe. One of the best ways to do that is through screenings at film fests. Unfortunately, that requires funds dedicated to the goal of submitting the films to every appropriate event that might be interested in potentially featuring them. Therefore, we have created the Mihmiverse Film Festival Fund, a donation program to allow fine folks like yourself to donate to this specific objective.

If you're interested in helping in whatever capacity you can, please do so by going HERE!

We have plans to celebrate every person who donates to the fund, but we're not quite ready to reveal EXACTLY how! It'll be a surprise, but worth it—especially if it helps get more eyes on—and fans into—the Mihmiverse!

"THREE BAD GIRLS WHO FIND A GUN AND BECOME VAMPIRES!"

Though we're all getting really excited about the NEXT Mihmiverse film, don't forget about the latest one, "Three Bad Girls Who Find a Gun and Become Vampires!" Since its world premiere in March, the film has garnered LOTS of positive praise! Audiences across the world have found it thrilling—they were thrilled! If you haven't seen it, you're missing out on one of the most fun Mihmiverse movies to date. The film is currently available to own and/or rent, both on physical media and digitally.

In writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's ode to "teensploitation" films of the 1950s and the cinematic oeuvre of the Coen Brothers, three female juvenile delinquents obtain a firearm and, just for the thrill of it, start robbing the fine folks of New Berlin. Unfortunately, their crime spree takes an unexpected turn after they mug and nearly murder the gambling-addicted pastor of the local church—who turns out to be an immortal, blood-sucking creature of the night! Hijinks ensue when the vampiric padre hires a pair of hitmen to help him retrieve his stolen cash and seek revenge against the three bad girls responsible!

Both DVDs and Blu-Rays of the film contain a high quality digital transfer of the film and several exclusive special features, including a blooper reel, photo galleries, feature-length commentary with writer/director Christopher R. Mihm, English subtitles, and more!

Feature Run Time: 1 hour, 16 minutes. Black & White, Widescreen, NOT RATED.

$9.99 (DVD) / $14.99 (Blu-Ray)
format:

Don't forget that in addition to being able to purchase the newly-released Mihmiverse film, "Three Bad Girls Who Find a Gun and Become Vampires," on DVD and Blu-Ray, it's also available to watch (and own) on both Vimeo and Patreon!

In fact, the entire Mihmiverse catalog is available digitally for rent and/or own at the Mihmiverse's Video On-Demand portal at Vimeo and through the Mihmiverse Patreon! AND, as a special bonus, every paying member of the Mihmiverse Patreon is given FREE access to the entire catalog (except, for a limited time, the latest release) as one of the perks!

BLAST FROM THE PAST
In this column, we'll be digging through old issues of the Mihmiverse Monthly and Phantom Lake Almanac (which was the original name of this newsletter!) and presenting interesting bits and pieces from the past! After all, this newsletter has been around since the release of "The Monster of Phantom Lake" back in 2006, so there's a LOT to choose from!

In March of 2009, the fourth Mihmiverse film, "Terror from Beneath the Earth," was complete and writer/director Christopher R. Mihm was working hard to get everything ready for the film's world premiere scheduled to take place two months later. In anticipation of the soon-to-be-released movie, a new column called Connections debuted in the online newsletter. Its purpose was to illuminate some of the ways in which people, places, and things were linked in the (at the time) four Mihmiverse movies. The following is the column as it appeared in the March 2009 Phantom Lake Almanac.

With Saint Euphoria Pictures / All For George Productions on the verge of releasing "Terror from Beneath the Earth," we present a new feature called Connections. Since the very first days of "The Monster of Phantom Lake," writer/director Christopher R. Mihm made a conscious decision that every 1950's-style movie he made would be connected in some way, so as to create a larger universe for his films in which they would all fit.

In this month's Connections segment, we explore some of the ways in which Phantom Lake and the scientist most identified with it have played roles in the films.

  • The character of Professor Jackson has made an appearance in some way in all four films. First introduced in "The Monster of Phantom Lake," he served as the main protagonist in "It Came From Another World!" He also appeared as a much older man (and the father of main character Captain Mike Jackson) as "Director Jackson," head of Star Command in "Cave Women on Mars." As to a possible cameo in "Terror from Beneath the Earth," you'll have to find out in May!
  • In "Terror from Beneath the Earth," Justen Overlander plays a character named Sheriff George Elliott. Sheriff Elliott is the father of Lieutenant William Christopher Elliott, the male lead in "Cave Women on Mars."
  • Phantom Lake is a real body of water found in southeastern Wisconsin bordering the town of Mukwonago (which was mentioned by name in "The Monster of Phantom Lake"). The lake itself is mentioned in three of the four films, excluding "Cave Women on Mars."
  • Though not a real county in Wisconsin, Sheriff George Elliott is the Sheriff of Phantom Lake County—another mention of the ubiquitous lake.
  • Professor Jackson repeatedly mentions working for "The University," a fictional institute of higher learning never given a proper name. The Professor's colleagues include Dr. Frank Frasier (Mike Mason) in "It Came From Another World!" and Dr. Vincent Edwards (Mike Cook) in "Terror from Beneath the Earth."

EDITORIAL NOTE: Professor Jackson does NOT make a cameo appearance in "Terror from Beneath the Earth," but a VERY pregnant Mrs. Julie Ann Saint Marie-Jackson DOES! The actual name of "The University" officially appeared for the first time in 2013's "The Giant Spider," and, not surprisingly, it's revealed to be Phantom Lake University!
CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
It! The Terror From Beyond Space (1958)
Directed by Edward L. Cahn
Starring Marshall Thompson and Shirley Patterson

The year is 1973 and something terrible has happened during the first manned mission to Mars. A second rocket is sent to investigate but finds only one survivor who tells unbelievable stories concerning a homicidal alien monster. On the way back to Earth, the tales are revealed to be true when the creature is found as a stowaway on the ship! Death, mayhem and dubious science ensues. If the plot sounds familiar, it's because it's almost identical to that of Ridley Scott's 1979 masterpiece "Alien."

"It! The Terror From Beyond Space" may not be as good as "Alien," but it's still fun and a perfect example of a 1950's B-grade science fiction monster movie!

Highly recommended!
