JOIN US FOR A MIHMIVERSE MOVIE MARATHON!

Start the "Halloween season" off right with another Mihmiverse Movie Marathon at the Time Community Theater, which culminates in the Wisconsin premiere of "The Wad: The True Story Behind the Phantom Lake County Chewing Gum Disaster!"

Writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and several familiar Mihmiverse faces will be in attendance to sell and sign DVDs and other Mihmiverse merchandise!

It's important to note that roughly around the same time last September, the Time Community Theater hosted a similar Mihm-movie marathon. It went so well, they decided to do it again, AND if attendance improves upon last year's event, they plan to do this EVERY YEAR! Therefore, we're asking for your help to fill the theater with as many cheesy-movie-fans as we can find! This event is 100% FREE, so it shouldn't be that hard to convince your friends and family to attend with you!

"THE WAD" WORLD PREMIERE!

Last month's world premiere of "The Wad: The True Story Behind the Phantom Lake County Chewing Gum Disaster" was a gigantic success!

Not only was the crowd bigger than last year's premiere (premiere attendance being something we've struggled with post-pandemic), but DVD & Blu-Ray sales were through the roof! For the first time in what feels like a LONG time, people were lining up after the movie to purchase not only the latest film, but back-catalog ones, as well. In fact, despite bringing a large number of copies of "The Wad," at the end of the night, the Mihmiverse crew found themselves with only ONE DVD left!

Writer/director Christopher R. Mihm snapped the following photo outside the theater as folks lined up to get into the event!

So far, reactions to the new film have been almost entirely positive, which is music to the ears of everyone involved in the making of "The Wad!" The cast & crew wanted to extend an extra-hearty THANK YOU to everyone who showed up to the big premiere and made the night one to remember!

WHAT'S UP NEXT FOR THE MIHMIVERSE!

Now that "The Wad" has been officially released, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm is gearing up for a busy "screening season," which is the name he's given to the period from September through early-November when demand for Mihmiverse-related live events reaches its peak in any given year.

When Mr. Mihm is NOT traveling around and bringing the joy of modern-made, retro-styled cheesy movies to the masses, he's spending his "non-promoting time" working diligently on his NEXT feature, "Three Bad Girls Who Find a Gun and Become Vampires."

Principal photography is done, and the project is currently in the editing stage. According to Mr. Mihm, he is making major strides toward finishing sooner rather than later! In fact, he claims to be so far "ahead of the curve" on this movie, he's already tentatively set a premiere date for March 5th, 2025! Nothing is absolutely set in stone yet, but it seems he's shooting to release this next movie—his 20th!—as close to the original March 9th, 2006 premiere date of his first film, "The Monster of Phantom Lake!"

In "Three Bad Girls Who Find a Gun and Become Vampires," writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's ode to "teensploitation" films of the 1950s and the cinematic oeuvre of the Coen Brothers, three female juvenile delinquents obtain a firearm and, just for the thrill of it, start robbing the fine folks of New Berlin. Unfortunately, their crime spree takes an unexpected turn after they mug and nearly murder the gambling-addicted pastor of the local church—who turns out to be an immortal, blood-sucking creature of the night! Hijinks ensue when the vampiric padre hires a pair of hitmen to help him retrieve his stolen cash and seek revenge against the three bad girls responsible!

In the meantime, never forget that the Mihmiverse is only made possible by contributor credits, and we need all the help we can get! For each $20.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name* of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film and a customized, frame-able document certifying their contribution!

IMPORTANT! Physical media copies of the finished film are NOT automatically included with a basic contribution. If you would like to be guaranteed a DVD or Blu-Ray of the film when it is released, you MUST order it separately (with the purchase of at least one credit)!

Credits can even be given as gifts! Imagine the looks on the faces of your loved ones when they find out their names will be immortalized on the silver screen!

BLAST FROM THE PAST
In this column, we'll be digging through old issues of the Mihmiverse Monthly and Phantom Lake Almanac (which was the original name of this newsletter!) and presenting interesting bits and pieces from the past! After all, this newsletter has been around since the release of "The Monster of Phantom Lake" back in 2006, so there's a LOT to choose from!

This month, we flash back to February of 2013 when writer/director Christopher R. Mihm had a BIG announcement to make regarding his soon-to-be-released eighth feature film!

GIANT-SPIDER-SIZED NEWS!

On Friday, January 25th, 2013, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm completed the "rough draft" edit of his next opus, "The Giant Spider!"

A handful of people have seen the first cut of the film and all agree that no other Mihmiverse film can match it in scope or sheer excitement! The most memorable quote came from one of the first people to view the film, monster-of-all-trades Michael Kaiser, who remarked in his normally understated deadpan, "I was never bored." From Mr. Kaiser, that's high praise, indeed!

In all seriousness, based solely on the "rough cut," this will most likely be considered one of Mr. Mihm's best films, quite possibly even unseating perennial-fan-favorite "The Monster of Phantom Lake" from the top spot! With the world premiere still MONTHS away, it's going to be a LONG WAIT until we all get to see the final version. AND, speaking of the world premiere, the date has been finalized: May 22nd, 2013! Mark your calendars, everybody!

In honor of this occasion, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has provided us with an exclusive never-before-seen still from the new movie. Check it out below!

The Giant Spider!
CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953)
Directed by Eugène Lourié
Starring Paul Hubschmid and Paula Raymond

Nuclear testing (what else causes these things to happen?) in the arctic thaws an out-of-control, man-eating dinosaur that makes its way to the U.S. and wreaks havoc upon its citizens!

Inspired by a Ray Bradbury short story, "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" is another showcase for stop-motion special effects master Ray Harryhausen's work. The story is delightfully preposterous (the best kind!) with the acting and directing a perfect showcase for the types of films the Mihmiverse seeks to emulate. In addition, the movie is worth it for every second the giant creature is on screen, especially during the particularly thrilling Coney Island Roller Coaster finale!

Highly recommended!
