In this column, we'll be digging through old issues of the
Mihmiverse Monthly and
Phantom Lake Almanac (which was the original name of this newsletter!) and presenting interesting bits and pieces from the past! After all, this newsletter has been around since the release of "
The Monster of Phantom Lake" back in 2006, so there's a
LOT to choose from!
This month, we go back to October 2015 where we meet big fan Lucy Grogg, the first person known to have gotten a Mihmiverse-related tattoo!
ALSO, it is mentioned in the story that if you get a Mihmiverse tattoo on your body, you're entitled to free stuff for life. That is
STILL TRUE! If you or someone you know has a Mihmiverse-related tattoo, let us know
HERE so we can add you (or your friend) to the "free stuff" list!
HOW COOL IS THIS?The photo at right is an actual tattoo that currently resides on the leg of
Mihmiverse fan club member Lucy Grogg!
The tattoo was created for and tattooed onto Ms. Grogg's calf by the very talented Mike Shultz of
Ink Therapy Tattoo in Indianapolis, IN. Needless to say, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and Mihmiverse Master Monster Maker Mitch Gonzales (who designed and created the Moon Zombie monsters) were both floored by this amazing piece of body art and Ms. Grogg's loyalty to the Mihmiverse!
As the first person known to get a Mihmiverse-related tattoo, Ms. Grogg is now entitled to one free copy of each Mihmiverse film on DVD (or whatever format comes next)
FOR LIFE.
Congratulations, Lucy!
AND, thank you for immortalizing one of the coolest Mihmiverse monsters on your body!
Should you, too, decide to tattoo a Mihmiverse-related image (or quote) on your body, please send us a photo and you will also be granted free stuff for life!
Also, if you were wondering which
fanclub faction Ms. Grogg is a member of...it's the
MOON ZOMBIES, of course! Read Ms. Grogg's interview in the August issue of the
Mihmiverse Monthly by clicking

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
Beyond the Time Barrier (1960)
Directed by
Edgar G. UlmerStarring
Robert Clarke,
Darlene Tompkins and
Vladimir Sokoloff
A test-pilot flies an experimental sub-orbital aircraft and, upon landing, finds himself in the far-off future of the year 2024. The world he knew is gone, seemingly abandoned and in a state of complete decay. While scouting around, he is set upon by the inhabitants of a strange futuristic city, knocked unconscious, and captured. When he awakens, he is surprised to find the remnants of the now-dying human race living in a strange dystopian society. Most of the population has been mutated into brutal, deformed creatures by a cosmic plague, and the remaining few unaffected people rule with an iron fist. He also encounters other "time-travelers" who arrived in this bizarre future by similar "wormhole events." Using his wits and derring-do, our hero must find a way to escape and return to his own time before the violent mutants overthrow the delicate balance! "
Beyond the Time Barrier" is quite a decent 1950s science fiction film. In fact, one of the best things that can be said about it is that it feels very much like a prototypical episode of the original "
Star Trek" series. Though it definitely comes off as a low-budget production, the story and overall tone of the film is so strong, it overcomes any and all limitations. All things considered, I found myself thoroughly enjoying the film and would recommend it to any fan of classic sci-fi!
