CURRENT NEWS
THE WAD IS COMING!

As we move into the Halloween season, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and the Mihmiverse crew have been spending their time working on the NEXT Mihmiverse project, "The Wad: The True Story Behind the Phantom Lake County Chewing Gum Disaster!" Principal photography is currently underway and, though there isn't much finished footage from which to grab stills, the production has been quite generous in providing us behind-the-scenes photos!

Since this is the first Mihmiverse mockumentary, Mr. Mihm thought it might be fun for us to see exactly what one of the character interviews from the new movie looks like from outside of the visual scope of the viewer. In this admittedly unusual image, actor Tyler Haines—who is best known as Agar from "Demon with the Atomic Brain" and "Annihilate All Humans!"—is playing... someone who's answering questions about... something! Check out the photo below and see for yourself!

We're not so sure what it is Mr. Haines is wearing, but since this film is a faux-documentary and the sitation in this photo is, presumably, the set-up for a "talking head" interview, we're going to go out on a limb and postulate that we're not going to actually see the actor's bare legs in the finished film... or will we?! With this movie being so different from all the others in the Mihmiverse catalog, anything is possible!

Principal photography for The Wad: The True Story Behind the Phantom Lake County Chewing Gum Disaster is slated to continue through the end of this year and, should everything come together just right, the film should be released at some point next summer/early autumn!

In writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's first faux-documentary, KPHL Channel 6 Nightly News anchor Daniel Johnson (Elliott Mihm) hosts a "look back" at one of the most shocking events ever to transpire in Mihmiverse history. Through interviews with survivors and major players involved in the crisis, re-enactments, and never-before-seen archival footage, Mr. Johnson presents the complete and unabridged story of the wad of chewing gum that mutated, became sentient, grew to gargantuan proportions, and threatened the lives of every man, woman, and child in Phantom Lake County!

Don't forget! The Mihmiverse is only made possible by contributor credits, and we need all the help we can get! For each $20.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name* of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film and a customized, frame-able document certifying their contribution!

IMPORTANT! Physical media copies of the finished film are NOT automatically included with a basic contribution. If you would like to be guaranteed a DVD or Blu-Ray of the film when it is released, you MUST order it separately (with the purchase of at least one credit)!

Credits can even be given as gifts! Imagine the looks on the faces of your loved ones when they find out their names will be immortalized on the silver screen!

COME SEE "ANNIHILATE ALL HUMANS!"

The latest Mihmiverse movie, "Annihilate All Humans!," has been out for just over two months and has received near universally positive praise! If you were unable to attend the world premiere in August and/or the Wisconsin premiere at the end of September, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has secured a handful of additional screenings of the film!

— — —

Returning to a long-standing Mihmiverse tradition, "Annihilate All Humans!" will screen at this year's Jack-o-Lantern Jaunt in Mukwonago, WI, home of the actual Phantom Lake. This great family-friendly event is held annually in Field Park (essentially the town's "Central Park"), which is decorated with hundreds of carved, lit pumpkins placed along the walking path that runs through it. This is the event's 20th year and, as always, all proceeds collected at the door go to local charities! Nothing turbo-charges the "spooky season" like watching the latest Mihmiverse movie outside whilst surrounded by lit jack-o'-lanterns and within walking distance of the REAL Phantom Lake!

The Jack-o-Lantern Jaunt will take place at dusk on Friday, October 13th and Saturday, October 14th. This event is rain or shine, so dress appropriately! Field Park is located on the corner of Highway 83 and County Road NN in Mukwonago, Wisconsin.

On Friday, October 27th, "Annihilate All Humans!" screens FOR FREE at the beautiful Miner Theatre in Ladysmith, Wisconsin as part of the town's "Downtown Halloween Night Out" festivities! Writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and several of the film's stars will be on-hand to personally present the film and sell and sign Mihmiverse merchandise!

The Miner Theatre is located at 116 Miner Avenue East in Ladysmith, Wisconsin.

ORDER "ANNIHILATE ALL HUMANS!" TODAY!

The world is under attack by flying saucers and only top scientists Dr. Edwards (Mike Cook) and Dr. Gabriel (James Norgard) can put an end to their unearthly aggression! Unfortunately, they have no idea it's even happening because they've been kidnapped by General Castle (Mark Haider) and taken to a remote cabin in the deep woods for some unsolicited rest & relaxation! Can our heroes find their way back to civilization in time to stop the alien menace, or will the seemingly unstoppable space invaders succeed in their quest to ANNIHILATE ALL HUMANS!?

The disc contains a high quality digital transfer of the film and several exclusive special features, including a blooper reel, two photo galleries, feature-length commentary with writer/director Christopher R. Mihm, English subtitles, and much more!

THE TRIVIA CORNER
A-haunting We Will Go!

The 1940s was a decade full of Hollywood Ghost Stories, many of which were more fun than scary... and far from cheesy... featuring some of the biggest stars of the day.

This Halloween month, we're keeping it on the lighter side by highlighting six of these classics. If you can correctly match the titles with the cast members and plot points, I'd say you've done a "spooktacular" job!

1. "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" (1941)
2. "I Married a Witch" (1942)
3. "Heaven Can Wait" (1943)
4. "Blithe Spirit" (1945)
5. "The Bishop's Wife" (1947)
6. "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" (1947)

A. Henry Van Cleve (Don Ameche) meets with Satan to discuss whether or not he's qualified to enter the underworld. Gene Tierney and Robert Coburn also star.
B. A boxer (Robert Montgomery) accidentally dies too soon, and against his wishes, is given a new body by a representative from Heaven played by Claude Rains. The film won 2 Oscars, and was nominated for 6 more.
C. A man and his second wife are haunted by the ghost of his first wife. Rex Harrison, Constance Cummings, and Kay Hammond star in this adaptation of a play by Noel Coward.
D. A 17th century witch (Veronica Lake) returns to life to torment the descendant (Fredric March) of her original persecutor.
E. A widow's seaside cottage is haunted, but in the end, she and the ghost become friends. Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison teamed up for this one.
F. Hopefully, I'm not giving too much away when I mention that this film starred Cary Grant, Loretta Young, and David Niven in sort of a ghostly love triangle centered around a fundraiser.

BLAST FROM THE PAST
In this new column, we'll be digging through old issues of the Mihmiverse Monthly and Phantom Lake Almanac (which was the original name of this newsletter!) and presenting interesting bits and pieces from the past! After all, this newsletter has been around since the release of "The Monster of Phantom Lake" back in 2006, so there's a LOT to choose from!

This month, we flashback to October 2013 after writer/director Christopher R. Mihm appeared as a guest at the Edgerton Sterling North Book and Film Festival.

While spending a magnificent weekend at the Edgerton Sterling North Book and Film Festival in late September, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and the first lady of the Mihmiverse, Stephanie Mihm, snapped the following pair of photos we feel are worth publishing for all to see!

The photo on the left is a cell phone capture of an electronic billboard featuring Mr. Mihm located in Janesville, WI. Upon randomly seeing this billboard, Mrs. Mihm had an immediate excited reaction while, this being the first time ever, her husband was more or less dumbfounded to see his "mug" on a billboard!

The second photo is of a sign that was found hanging in a hallway at the actual event. The featured speaker at the festival was Dr. Patch Adams, a physician and social activist who was immortalized in the semi-biographical film, "Patch Adams" (1998), starring Robin Williams. Though Mr. Mihm's "star" is nowhere near as bright as Dr. Adams', it was still a huge thrill for the man-behind-the-Mihmiverse to see his name next to someone as impressive and storied!

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
I Married a Monster from Outer Space (1958)
Directed by Gene Fowler, Jr.
Starring Tom Tryon and Gloria Talbott

After an oddly emotionless first year of marriage, a small-town housewife (played beautifully by the too-talented-for-this-genre Gloria Talbott) begins to grow suspicious of her unusually distant husband. Of course, space aliens from a dying world are involved, taking over the bodies of the town's men for the purposes of repopulating their species. Never feeling tired or overly clichéd, this little gem of a film borrows heavily from other great 1950's sci-fi films like the original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and "Invaders from Mars!" The special effects are surprisingly innovative and effective...as long as you overlook the part where the aliens' true form is revealed. I don't want to give too much away, but it left me inexplicably wanting fruit-salad-infused Jell-O. All things considered, a worthy surprise from the golden age of creature features!

STREAM THE MIHMIVERSE
If you're like most people these days, you tend to stream your favorite TV shows and movies, particularly because it's way more convenient and you have access to them in more places! Did you know there are now several places to stream the entire Mihmiverse catalog?

From the movie that started it all, "The Monster of Phantom Lake," to its musical offshoot, "The Monster of Phantom Lake: The Musical!," and "Annihilate All Humans!," everything you need to "visit" the denizens of Phantom Lake County is available for your streaming pleasure!

The ENTIRE filmography of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (including "Annihilate All Humans!") is available through the Mihmiverse Vimeo VOD portal!

Every film is presented using the same ultra high-quality renders used for the official Blu-Ray releases and actually feeds video content to the Drive-in Monsters Roku channel. Most importantly, the Mihmiverse Vimeo VOD portal is the ONLY PLACE to legally own the films digitally!

Retro-style monster movies from the wild & weird imagination of cult filmmaker Christopher R. Mihm! From giant, rampaging spiders to alien invasions and bug-eyed horrors, the Drive-in Monsters channel includes the entire catalog of Mr. Mihm's films, exclusive extras, and long lost special features originally released on currently out-of-print physical media! Explore the worldwide underground cult phenomenon known as the "Mihmiverse" and enjoy the rebirth of the golden age of "drive-in cinema" with the Drive-in Monsters channel!

As of right now, the channel is free... but that, most likely, will not last forever! So make sure to enjoy the Drive-in Monsters Roku channel while it's still completely free of charge!

Most of the films of the Mihmiverse are available on Amazon Video. Sadly, as Amazon continues to revise and rewrite its policies, they have downgraded the entire Mihmiverse catalog from "available with Prime" to rental only. Though this wasn't entirely unexpected—given the way the service has been slowly ridding itself of the films of Christopher R. Mihm—we CANNOT guarantee they will still be there on any given day! So, if Amazon is your preferred place to watch the Mihmiverse, enjoy it while it lasts!

NOTE: Amazon has barred writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (and MANY other independent filmmakers) from adding any new films to their service. As far as we have been able to figure out, the service is taking a more "curated" approach to its catalog and, unfortunately, does not have any more room for the cheesy goodness of the Mihmiverse! Therefore, if you're interested in watching the newest films of the Mihmiverse, we highly recommend checking out the Mihmiverse Roku channel, Drive-in Monsters!
