CURRENT NEWS
THE WANDERING CREATURE (AND OTHER TALES)!

Principal photography of every story segment of the forthcoming Mihmiverse anthology, "The Wandering Creature (and Other Tales)," is complete and, as of the publication of this newsletter, the final edit of one of the segments (specifically the titular segment, "The Wandering Creature") is done!

Writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has informed us that bookend segments, which apparently explain the link between the four major stories, still need to be filmed. However, those segments are not scheduled to go before cameras before next month (December) at the earliest. Given the fact that "The Wandering Creature (and Other Tales)" is not expected to be released before late Summer 2026, Mr. Mihm does not seem worried about getting everything done in time!

In the meantime, we've received a new still from the "Wandering Creature" segment of the film. In it, we see a morel-mushroom-headed creature that looks suspiciously like the one on the film's temporary poster image. It appears to be attacking an unknown character being played by actor Tony Laundrie, whose last known appearance in the Mihmiverse was as Dr. Rogers, the sleepy guardian of a bank of giant switches, in 2011's "Attack of the Moon Zombies!"

Check it out below!

Contributor credits for "The Wandering Creature (and Other Tales)" are still available and make GREAT gifts for the holidays! Imagine the looks on the faces of your loved ones when they find out their names will be immortalized on the silver screen!

The Wandering Creature (and Other Tales)
In the next great Mihmiverse film, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm takes a stab (pun intended) at an anthology movie in the vein of "Twilight Zone: The Movie," "Trilogy of Terror," and "Creepshow," albeit in his signature retro-B-movie style! In a series of linked, short tales-of-horror, an unmanned spacecraft returning from the asteroid Vesta breaks-up upon re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere and scatters sample containers across Phantom Lake County! Not-so-unexpectedly (particularly for a Mihmiverse movie), contact with the mysterious, otherworldly contents of these canisters create a whole host of terrifying creatures like mushroom monsters, killer garden gnomes, and more! Can the local population survive such shocking encounters, or will this be the end of all life in Phantom Lake County!?

The Mihmiverse is only made possible by contributions from fans like you. As the project soldiers onward through the filming stage, now is definitely the time when the Mihmiverse needs contributions the most!

For each $25.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film, and a customized, frame-able document certifying their contribution! Credits can even be given as gifts! Imagine the looks on the faces of your loved ones when they find out their names will be immortalized on the silver screen!

A single credit is defined as the name of one (1) person or corporate entity. Any credit requiring the word "and," an ampersand (&), and/or a comma (except when part of a legal company name) will constitute multiple credits and MUST BE paid for separately. Contributors have NO SAY in the decisions or actions taken by anyone involved in the actual production of the film and are NOT entitled to ANY possible future profits earned by the film, derivative works, and/or merchandise created for or featuring elements from the film. Becoming a contributor does not entitle the participant to ANY ownership WHATSOEVER of the finished film or associated elements.

NOTE: Physical media copies of the finished film are NOT included with contributions. If you would like to receive DVDs and/or Blu-Rays of the film when it is released, you MUST pre-order them separately. We reserve the right to refuse any credit we deem inappropriate. All refused credits will be refunded.

BLAST FROM THE PAST
In this column, we'll be digging through old issues of the Mihmiverse Monthly and Phantom Lake Almanac (which was the original name of this newsletter!) and presenting interesting bits and pieces from the past! After all, this newsletter has been around since the release of "The Monster of Phantom Lake" back in 2006, so there's a LOT to choose from!

This month we go into the not-so-distant past of April 2021. The Covid-19 pandemic was still raging and writer/director Christopher R. Mihm was finally able to fully release his "pandemic movie," "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Unseen Invasion," on DVD & Blu-Ray. Up to that point, it had only been released digitally at Vimeo. Since there was a lot of downtime during the worst of the pandemic, Mr. Mihm found himself with ample opportunity to appear as a guest on different podcasts, as evidenced by this month's Blast from the Past entry.

PODCASTS, PODCASTS, PODCASTS!

In the past month or so, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm proved to be a "hot commodity" in the "podcast biz," with several movie-related podcasts approaching him to be a guest on their shows. Here's a sampling of a few of them:

I Love That Movie!
Mr. Mihm drops by to discuss his new film, "The Phantom Lake Kid in The Unseen Invasion," and how the pandemic wound up shaping the narrative. He and the host also take some time to reminisce on their friendship with the late Michael Cross.

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
The Undertaker and His Pals (1966)
Directed by T.L.P. Swicegood
Starring Ray Dannis and Warrene Ott

Is it a slasher pic? Is it a slapstick comedy? Is it possible to be both? This incredibly twisted, but strangely humorous piece of cheap, moldy cheese tells the story of a motorcycle-riding undertaker and two guys from the local cafe—named, appropriately, The Greasy Spoon—who team up to score business for the former and menu items for the latter by hacking up beautiful women with names like Sally Lamb. (You'll never order 'leg of lamb' again!) Incredibly bad acting, horrible puns, gruesome violence, cannibalism and a Clark Gable look-alike all combine with nonexistent production values to make a film that is so far beyond bad it goes past good and all the way back to bad again. Twice. And that's what makes it fun to watch!
