CURRENT NEWS
THREE BAD GIRLS WHO FIND A GUN AND BECOME VAMPIRES!

In a first for writer/director Christopher R. Mihm, principal photography of the NEXT NEXT Mihmiverse movie, "Three Bad Girls Who Find a Gun and Become Vampires," has reached completion BEFORE the world premiere of the film preceding it, in this case "The Wad: The True Story Behind the Phantom Lake County Chewing Gum Disaster!"

Granted, this feat does come with a few asterisks, specifically the fact that 2019's "Queen of Snakes" was shot concurrently with 2018's "Guns of the Apocalypse" and principal photography of "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Unseen Invasion" was finished before "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us" was able to hold its world premiere, which was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Still, this is the first time this has happened independently and without the "help" of an out-of-control virus shutting down the world!

In honor of this milestone for the 20th (!) Mihmiverse movie in as many years, Mr. Mihm sent us the following behind-the-scenes photo taken as the film was wrapped! In the photo, from left to right, we find Mr. Mihm himself (sporting a rather large Santa-Claus-style beard) and actors Alice Mihm holding what appears to be the film's script, Elliott Mihm flaunting a 'stash that would make Tom Selleck proud, newcomer Jackie Baker displaying the film's titular weapon, and Michael Kaiser who, strangely, appears to be channeling Abraham Lincoln with his choice of facial hair!

With everything we've seen coming out of this rather unique project, call us cautiously optimistic that we'll see this supernatural-Mihmiverse-crime-caper sooner rather than later! Also, it's important to note that we asked writer/director Christopher R. Mihm about the reasoning behind the gun in this photo being painted red. He explained the choice was made for safety reasons. The prop is rather realistic-looking and, as a result, lacked certain features required for such an item, namely an orange barrel tip. So as not to confuse any casual passerby or, heaven forbid, law enforcement officials from mistaking the prop as a real weapon, the prop was painted a color not associated with real, functioning firearms—it lacks the ability to fire any kind of bullet or blank—knowing that when seen in black-and-white, it would appear a slick, gunmetal gray!

In "Three Bad Girls Who Find a Gun and Become Vampires," which writer/director Christopher R. Mihm refers to as an ode to "teensploitation" films of the 1950s and the cinematic oeuvre of the Coen Brothers, three female juvenile delinquents obtain a firearm and, just for the thrill of it, start robbing the fine folks of New Berlin. Unfortunately, their crime spree takes an unexpected turn after they mug and nearly murder the gambling-addicted pastor of the local church—who turns out to be an immortal, blood-sucking creature of the night! Hijinks ensue when the vampiric padre hires a pair of hitmen to help him retrieve his stolen cash and seek revenge against the three bad girls responsible!

The Mihmiverse is only made possible by contributions from fans like you. And, with the gears of this new project grinding into motion, now is the best time to contribute to the film! For each $20.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name* of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film and a customized, frame-able document certifying their contribution!

IMPORTANT! Physical media copies of the finished film are NOT automatically included with a basic contribution. If you would like to be guaranteed a DVD or Blu-Ray of the film when it is released, you MUST order it separately (with the purchase of at least one credit)!

Credits can even be given as gifts! Imagine the looks on the faces of your loved ones when they find out their names will be immortalized on the silver screen!

THE TRIVIA CORNER
Vintage Sci-Fi Cheese: 1964

This month, we're going back exactly six decades to a year that was jam-packed with Sci-Fi film releases, some good, some not so much.

As you might suspect, we're looking at the "Not-So-Much" category. Below, there are two lists. The first gives you plots. The second gives you titles. Match them up correctly and earn kudos for a "gouda job!"

1. Two women with a corpse in their trunk meet a man who says he can alter time and resurrect the dead.
2. A deadly alien invasion uses robots and a poisonous gas to take over the Earth.
3. A newlywed sheriff battles an alien monster hellbent on eating the citizens of his town.
4. A group of people trapped on a desert island learn very quickly to stay away from the water.
5. Flying saucers attack! (Believe it or not, this was an early Steven Spielberg film.)

A. "The Creeping Terror"
B. "The Unknown"
C. "Firelight"
D. "The Earth Dies Screaming"
E. "The Flesh Eaters"

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
4D Man (1959)
Directed by Irving S. Yeaworth, Jr.
Starring Robert Lansing and Lee Meriwether

When a failed research scientist introduces his older brother (a far more successful research scientist) to a seemingly-impossible experiment involving pushing solid objects through one another without damaging either, it is revealed that the secret to its success is equally proportionate to the brain power of the man conducting said experiment. Thus, the smarter, more successful (though emotionally colder) brother pulls it off with shocking results: he inherits the ability to walk through solid walls! Unfortunately, his new found superpower causes him to age prematurely, and only by stealing life energy from other people (and killing them in the process) can he survive long enough to stave off encroaching madness. Presented in color, it features excellent direction and superb acting for a film of its caliber. The special effects are sparse, but presented well. The movie also features a unique, jazzy soundtrack that gives it a flavor all its own—unlike any normally found in this type of film. Overall, a surprisingly good film that's worth seeing!

STREAM THE MIHMIVERSE
If you're like most people these days, you tend to stream your favorite TV shows and movies, particularly because it's way more convenient and you have access to them in more places! Did you know there are now several places to stream the entire Mihmiverse catalog?

From the movie that started it all, "The Monster of Phantom Lake," to its musical offshoot, "The Monster of Phantom Lake: The Musical!," and the next release, "The Wad: The True Story Behind the Phantom Lake County Chewing Gum Disaster," everything you need to "visit" the denizens of Phantom Lake County is available for your streaming pleasure!

The ENTIRE filmography of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (including "The Wad") is available through the Mihmiverse Vimeo VOD portal!

Every film is presented using the same ultra high-quality renders used for the official Blu-Ray releases and actually feeds video content to the Drive-in Monsters Roku channel. Most importantly, the Mihmiverse Vimeo VOD portal is the ONLY PLACE to legally own the films digitally!

Retro-style monster movies from the wild & weird imagination of cult filmmaker Christopher R. Mihm! From giant, rampaging spiders to alien invasions and bug-eyed horrors, the Drive-in Monsters channel includes the entire catalog of Mr. Mihm's films, exclusive extras, and long lost special features originally released on currently out-of-print physical media! Explore the worldwide underground cult phenomenon known as the "Mihmiverse" and enjoy the rebirth of the golden age of "drive-in cinema" with the Drive-in Monsters channel!

As of right now, the channel is free... but that, most likely, will not last forever! So make sure to enjoy the Drive-in Monsters Roku channel while it's still completely free of charge!

Most of the films of the Mihmiverse are available on Amazon Video. Sadly, as Amazon continues to revise and rewrite its policies, they have downgraded the entire Mihmiverse catalog from "available with Prime" to rental only. Though this wasn't entirely unexpected—given the way the service has been slowly ridding itself of the films of Christopher R. Mihm—we CANNOT guarantee they will still be there on any given day! So, if Amazon is your preferred place to watch the Mihmiverse, enjoy it while it lasts!

NOTE: Amazon has barred writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (and MANY other independent filmmakers) from adding any new films to their service. As far as we have been able to figure out, the service is taking a more "curated" approach to its catalog and, unfortunately, does not have any more room for the cheesy goodness of the Mihmiverse! Therefore, if you're interested in watching the newest films of the Mihmiverse, we highly recommend checking out the Mihmiverse Roku channel, Drive-in Monsters!
