THE WAD IS COMING!
Now that "
Annihilate All Humans!" has officially arrived, writer/ director Christopher R. Mihm is spending all his free time working on his
NEXT film, "
The Wad: The True Story Behind the Phantom Lake County Chewing Gum Disaster!"
As of mid-last month, the script is complete and the pre-production stage is well underway. Costumes are being acquired, cast members are being procured, locations are being secured, and props are being built!
Mr. Mihm has put together a preliminary schedule for parts of the script which have to be shot outside and, should everything fall into place, principal photography should begin within a few weeks of the publication of this newsletter!
We plan to have
A LOT more information about this unique Mihmiverse project next month!
STAY TUNED!
In writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's first faux-documentary, KPHL Channel 6 Nightly News anchor Daniel Johnson (Elliott Mihm) hosts a "look back" at one of the most shocking events ever to transpire in Mihmiverse history. Through interviews with survivors and major players involved in the crisis, re-enactments, and never-before-seen archival footage, Mr. Johnson presents the complete and unabridged story of the wad of chewing gum that mutated, became sentient, grew to gargantuan proportions, and threatened the lives of every man, woman, and child in Phantom Lake County!
As has been reiterated many, many times, the Mihmiverse is only made possible by
contributions from fans like you. And, with a new project in the beginning stages, now is the time when the Mihmiverse needs your
contributions the most!
For each $20.00 donation, all
contributors will be entitled to having a single name
* of their choosing listed in the
contributors section of the closing credits of the film and a customized, frame-able document certifying their

Out For Blood!
According to the Internet Movie Database, there are well over 200 movies with the word "
Blood" in the titlemost of which were filmed after 1960.
There's a clotI mean a
LOTof cheese on the list, but I was able to find some choice "cuts" for this month's quiz. List one: Titles and Years. List Two: plots and tidbits.
As always, your job is to match them up with a minimum of bloodshed. On your mark...Get set...
BLEED!
1. "Blood and Roses" (1960)
2. "Blood Feast" (1963)
3. "Castle of Blood" (1964)
4. "Blood Bath" (1966)
5. "Queen of Blood" (1966)
6. "
The Blood Beast Terror" (1968)
A. A scientist creates a creature that can change from a giant moth into a beautiful woman, and back again. Unfortunately, she's also a vampire. Peter Cushing stars.
B. The year is 1990. A team of astronauts answer an alien distress call and find a lone green-skinned woman. Of course, she's a vampire. Basil Rathbone and John Saxon lead the cast.
C. A crazed artist, who believes he's a vampire, kills a number of young women and sets the stove to "simmer."
D. A journalist agrees to spend the night in a haunted house and witnesses a number of gruesome acts, while falling in love with a ghost.(Sort of a serious version of "The Ghost & Mr. Chicken.")
E. In Miami, an Egyptian caterer kills various women so he can use their body parts to revive a dormant Egyptian goddess.
F. A young heiress, jealous of her cousin's engagement to another woman, becomes obsessed with the legend of a vampire ancestor who murdered the brides of the man she loved. Mel Ferrer is the cousin, and Roger Vadim directed.

In this new column, we'll be digging through old issues of the
Mihmiverse Monthly and
Phantom Lake Almanac (which was the original name of this newsletter!) and presenting interesting bits and pieces from the past! After all, this newsletter has been around since the release of "
The Monster of Phantom Lake" back in 2006, so there's a
LOT to choose from!
This month, we go back to April 2012 for a column called
From the Mihmiverse Test Kitchens, where the first lady of the Mihmiverse, Stephanie Mihm, shared some of her favorite recipes!
Need a light yummy cake for the upcoming holiday? This scrumptious, fruity cake will have your holiday guests asking for a guilt-free second piece!
Ingredients- 1 package (9 ounces) yellow cake mix
- 1-1/2 cups cold fat-free milk
- 1 package (1 ounce) sugar-free instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 package (8 ounces) fat-free cream cheese
- 1 can (20 ounces) unsweetened crushed pineapple, well drained
- 1 carton (8 ounces) frozen fat-free whipped topping, thawed
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
- 20 maraschino cherries, well drained
Directions
Prepare cake mix batter according to package directions; pour into a 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan coated with cooking spray.
Bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack.
In a large bowl, whisk milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes or until soft-set.
In a small bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Beat in pudding mixture until blended. Spread evenly over cake. Sprinkle with pineapple; spread with whipped topping. Sprinkle with walnuts and garnish with cherries. Refrigerate until serving.
Yield: 20 servings.
1 piece equals 131 calories. My monster crowd gives this fabulous dessert 5 out of 5 "roars."

War of the Worlds (1953)
Directed by
Byron HaskinStarring
Ann Robinson and
Gene Barry
Probably the best known adaptation of H.G. Wells' classic sci-fi story, 1953's "
War of the Worlds" can confidently be held up as a perfect example of what makes "Atomic Age" sci-fi cinema so great. For those few who are unaware, the plot is as straightforward as it gets: after a series of meteors crash to Earth, Martian spaceships appear and start destroying everything in their path using white-hot death rays. A pair of scientists race against the clock to find some way to defeat the alien horde, but ultimately, the solution is far simpler than they ever imagined! If you really don't know how the story ends, I refuse to spoil it. Everything about this Academy Award-winning film is superb. The acting, direction, mood, cinematography, beautiful Technicolor presentation, and especially the special effects are as good as they get in a 1950s-era genre film. Sure, if you look closely you can see the strings, but with a movie this exciting (surprisingly, by today's standards), you will not care! If you've never seen this retro special effects extravaganza, you need to see it
RIGHT NOW!

Most of the films of the Mihmiverse are available on Amazon Video. Sadly, as Amazon continues to revise and rewrite its policies, they have downgraded the entire Mihmiverse catalog from "available with Prime" to rental only. Though this wasn't entirely unexpectedgiven the way the service has been slowly ridding itself of the films of Christopher R. Mihmwe
CANNOT guarantee they will still be there on any given day! So, if Amazon is your preferred place to watch the Mihmiverse, enjoy it while it lasts!
NOTE: Amazon has barred writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (and
MANY other independent filmmakers) from adding any new films to their service. As far as we have been able to figure out, the service is taking a more "curated" approach to its catalog and, unfortunately, does not have any more room for the cheesy goodness of the Mihmiverse! Therefore, if you're interested in watching the newest films of the Mihmiverse, we highly recommend checking out the Mihmiverse Roku channel,
Drive-in Monsters!
