THE MIHMIVERSE HOLIDAY SPECIAL IS ALMOST HERE!

The Mihmiverse Holiday Special
After a tumultuous genesis, weather and pandemic-related delays, and several fits and starts, the first-ever holiday-themed Mihmiverse special will FINALLY debut NEXT MONTH!

Designed to be a love letter to retro holiday TV specials like 1965's "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and 1966's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," and pay direct homage to 1964's sci-fi "cheesefest" "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians," "The Mihmiverse Holiday Special" serves as a de facto mini-sequel to the 2015 fan-favorite film, "Danny Johnson Saves the World!"

In this Mihmiverse mini-movie, little alien Steve has gone missing but, luckily, his loyal sidekick (and nephew) Stu knows EXACTLY what to do to find someone who can help locate his uncle: get human help! Unfortunately, Stu has no idea what a human is! BUT he knows he can find out by locating Steve's old friend, Danny Johnson—or the next best thing, Danny's sister Evelyn! With Evelyn's help, Stu embarks on a wild adventure that takes him from outer space to the North Pole and several exotic points in between to do battle with an old nemesis, meet up with one of the most legendary holiday characters on Earth, and celebrate the joys of the season!

"The Mihmiverse Holiday Special" stars Alice Mihm as Evelyn Johnson, Elliott Mihm as Stu, Stephanie Mihm as an old adversary, and writer/director Christopher R. Mihm as Santa Claus! "The Mihmiverse Holiday Special" will debut on Thursday, November 25th (Thanksgiving Day) on the Mihmiverse Vimeo On-Demand portal!

THE PHANTOM LAKE KIDS TRILOGY IS COMING TOGETHER!

The third film in the Phantom Lake Kids trilogy, "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Day the Earth Abruptly Almost Ended," is almost "in the can!"

Although we mentioned last month that principal photography of the next Mihmiverse film was scheduled to be complete by the publication date of this newsletter, shooting of the final scene had to be delayed into October to make room for Mihmiverse-related events and travel, less-than-ideal weather, normal back-to-school ups-and-downs, and writer/director Christopher R. Mihm having to dedicate time to putting some finishing touches on "The Mihmiverse Holiday Special."

We are happy to report that Mr. Mihm has assured there is nothing to worry about, as the project is still several months ahead of where it needs to be to guarantee its timely release next Spring! In fact, while the movie still has not been completely committed to film (well... digital video, anyway), Mr. Mihm has found enough time to edit and complete more than 30 minutes of footage. He also stated that this new movie is (and this is a verbatim quote:) "one of the most bonkers" he has ever made and he cannot wait to unleash this BIG project on the masses.

In the meantime, we have a new still from "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Day the Earth Abruptly Almost Ended" that definitely tracks with Mr. Mihm's description of the film as "bonkers!" We're not sure WHAT EXACTLY is going on with Danny Johnson (Elliott Mihm), but it seems SOMETHING is definitely... not normal! In fact, we wonder if the photo implies that the ever-familiar character is... the villain!? Truth is, we don't know! BUT we're DEFINITELY curious as to where this story is going to take us! WE CAN'T WAIT!

CONTRIBUTE TO THE NEW MOVIE!

In "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Day The Earth Abruptly Almost Ended," Phantom Lake County is shaken by inexplicable earthquakes emanating from a local system of caves and being overrun by grossly mutated creatures of unusual size—a phenomenon which may point to the return of a long-since-forgotten menace! Thankfully, the Phantom Lake Kids (Danny & Evelyn Johnson and their friends Billy Blue, Butch, and Chip) are "on the job" and determined to solve the real mystery: what's the deal with Butch's magic hat?

As has been reiterated many, many times, the Mihmiverse is only made possible by contributions from fans like you. For each $20.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name* of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film and a customized, frame-able document certifying their contribution!

IMPORTANT! Physical media copies of the finished film are NOT automatically included with a basic contribution. If you would like to be guaranteed a DVD or Blu-Ray of the film when it is released, you MUST order it separately (with the purchase of at least one credit)!

Credits can even be given as gifts! Imagine the looks on the faces of your loved ones when they find out their names will be immortalized on the silver screen!

THIS MONTH IN MIHMIVERSE HISTORY
Since the films of Christopher R. Mihm have existed for more than 15 years, we figured digging into it would make for an entertaining addition to this newsletter! Thus, in this new section, aptly titled This Month in Mihmiverse History, we'll traipse through "days of Mihmiverse past" and present some of the most interesting!

"It Came From Another World!" received the award for Best Sci-Fi & Fantasy Feature at the ShockerFest International Film Festival in October of 2007.

One year later in 2008, principal photography of the fourth Mihmiverse film, "Terror from Beneath the Earth" began. Though the final film isn't GENERALLY regarded as one of the best in the Mihmiverse, "Terror from Beneath the Earth" is one of the most important in the entire series as it introduced characters, locations, and monsters that continue to affect even the latest release, "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us!" These include the Johnson family (particularly a very young Danny Johnson), the Wisawa caves, the mutant bat monster, Sheriff (then Deputy) Hayes, Dr. Edwards, and many more!

In 2011, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm became the first recipient of the Roger & Julie Corman Intrepid Filmmaker Award at the 9th annual Fargo Fantastic Film Festival.

The only Mihmiverse film to date to be released in the month of October, "Demon with the Atomic Brain," premiered in 2017.

Taken by Christi Jean Williams (who played Mrs. Davis in "Queen of Snakes"), writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's now-familiar, Jim-Henson-esque promotional photo was revealed to the world in October of 2019. Not only did the image eventually become a much-sought-after jigsaw puzzle in 2020, the image is still available as a signed 8x10 (order yours below)!

MIHMIVERSE FAN FOCUS
Welcome to the Mihmiverse Monthly feature where we talk to YOU, the fans! Every month, we choose a random Mihmivite and ask them a few Mihmiverse-related questions in an attempt to get to know them better and find out what they REALLY think about the films of Christopher R. Mihm!

This month, we interview Deb Leuthard!

Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
Hi! My name is Deb Leuthard. I live in the very small town of Hancock, Minnesota, population 700ish. I'm 63 yrs old and have been a fan of weird sci-fi/horror films all my life... especially '50s and '60s films. I love a film that makes me stop crocheting long enough to pay attention to it!

When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
I found the Mihmiverse films during the winter of '19/'20. I had been watching a lot of the old horror films on Amazon Prime, and "Queen of Snakes" showed up as a recommendation. I thought there would be no way I would watch a film that new. My friend said that I should give it a chance so I went to YouTube to find a trailer and was instantly excited to see this strange and wonderful film. From there I was hooked.

If you had to pick just ONE, which of the Mihmiverse films would be your favorite?
My very favorite Mihmiverse film is "The Monster of Phantom Lake!" I've watched that one many, many times. I have watched "House of Ghosts" quite a few times as well. However, I'll always have a place in my heart for "Queen of Snakes!" Stephanie Mihm is superb in that one!

Tell us how you, in particular, show your "Mihmiverse pride!"
I'm very proud of my collection of Mihmiverse DVDs! I have a movie poster of "It Came From Another World!" prominently displayed in my living room along with my collection of films. I have yet to find a fitting frame for my contributor certificate!

Where would you like to see the Mihmiverse go in the future?
I would like to see what writer/director Christopher R. Mihm can do with a vampire story or something in an evil scientist's laboratory—not necessarily Frankenstein-ish, maybe more like a "The Brain That Wouldn't Die"-type thing? A spin on a Ray Bradbury-esque story would be cool, and a time machine story would be fun to see too!
Want to be interviewed for a future edition of the Mihmiverse Fan Focus? Send an email to info@sainteuphoria.com and let us know! Maybe next month the subject will be YOU!
THE TRIVIA CORNER
It's Halloween month, and I've gone batty!

Below are 5 "bat-centric" films—one each from each decade covering the '30s through the '70s.

As always, your job is to "sink your teeth" into the challenge and match them up!

1. "The Vampire Bat " (1933)
2. "The Devil Bat " (1940)
3. "The Bat" (1959)
4. "Kiss of the Vampire" (1962)
5. "The Bat People" (1974 )

A. This one features a massive swarm of bats conjured up from "the fires from Hell" by an evil professor.
B. When bloodless corpses are found in a European village, everyone suspects that vampires are on the loose. The film stars Lionel Atwill and Fay Wray (who apparently had escaped the clutches of King Kong).
C. A mad scientist creates an after shave lotion that attracts giant killer bats! I kid you not! Bela Lugosi stars.
D. A crazed killer known as "The Bat" is loose in a mansion filled with people. Vincent Price and Agnes Moorhead star.
E. While exploring a cave, a doctor is bitten by a bat and turns into a "man-bat," which ruins his vacation and annoys his wife.

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
The Monolith Monsters (1957)
Directed by John Sherwood, starring Lola Albright and Grant Williams

After a strange meteor crashes to Earth, its fragments begin to expand exponentially when they come into contact with water. A thunderstorm hits and, not unexpectedly, the shiny, obsidian-like space rocks begin to grow uncontrollably, reaching such heights they come crashing down under their own massive weight and crush everything and everyone in their path. Also, as if giant towers of rock raining down on your head weren't scary enough, survivors who come in contact with the rocks slowly and painfully turn to stone. Needless to say, the ever-multiplying rocks threaten the entire planet and it's up to the inhabitants of a small town to stop them. The premise is "out there," even by 1950's B-movie standards, but the execution is surprisingly good. The special effects are top-notch and the acting is frighteningly believable, even when the characters are surrounded by one incredible and preposterous situation after the next. I was skeptical going in but honestly, I was incredibly impressed afterwards. Over the years, it has definitely become one of my favorites from the era! Highly recommended!

STREAM THE MIHMIVERSE
If you're like most people these days, you tend to stream your favorite TV shows and movies, particularly because it's way more convenient and you have access to them in more places! Did you know that there are now several places to stream the entire Mihmiverse catalog?

From the movie that started it all, "The Monster of Phantom Lake," to its musical offshoot, "The Monster of Phantom Lake: The Musical!," and "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us," everything you need to "visit" the denizens of Phantom Lake County is available for your streaming pleasure!

The ENTIRE filmography of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (including the newest film, "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us") is available through the Mihmiverse Vimeo VOD portal!

Every film is presented using the same ultra high-quality renders used for the official Blu-Ray releases and actually feeds video content to the Drive-in Monsters Roku channel. Most importantly, the Mihmiverse Vimeo VOD portal is the ONLY PLACE to legally own the films digitally!

Retro-style monster movies from the wild & weird imagination of cult filmmaker Christopher R. Mihm! From giant, rampaging spiders to alien invasions and bug-eyed horrors, the Drive-in Monsters channel includes the entire catalog of Mr. Mihm's films, exclusive extras, and long lost special features originally released on currently out-of-print physical media! Explore the worldwide, underground cult phenomenon known as the "Mihmiverse" and enjoy the rebirth of the golden age of "drive-in cinema" with the Drive-in Monsters channel!

As of right now, the channel is free... but, that most likely will not last forever! So make sure to enjoy the Drive-in Monsters Roku channel while it's still completely free of charge!

Most of the films of the Mihmiverse are available on Amazon Video. Sadly, as Amazon continues to revise and rewrite its policies, they have downgraded the entire Mihmiverse catalog from "available with Prime" to rental only. Though this wasn't entirely unexpected—given the way the service has been slowly ridding itself of the films of Christopher R. Mihm—we CANNOT guarantee they will still be there on any given day! So, if Amazon is your preferred place to watch the Mihmiverse, enjoy it while it lasts!

NOTE: Amazon has barred writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (and MANY other independent filmmakers) from adding any new films to their service. As far as we have been able to figure out, the service is taking a more "curated" approach to its catalog and, unfortunately, does not have any more room for the cheesy goodness of the Mihmiverse! Therefore, if you're interested in watching the newest films of the Mihmiverse, we highly recommend checking out the Mihmiverse Roku channel, Drive-in Monsters!
