THE MIHMIVERSE HOLIDAY SPECIAL
The Mihmiverse Holiday Special
November 24th, 2021 — digital premiere @ vimeo.com!

Designed as a love letter to retro holiday TV specials like 1965's "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and 1966's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," and to pay direct homage to 1964's sci-fi "cheesefest" "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians," "The Mihmiverse Holiday Special" serves as a de facto mini-sequel to the 2015 fan-favorite film, "Danny Johnson Saves the World!"

In this Mihmiverse mini-movie, little alien Steve has gone missing but, luckily, his loyal sidekick (and nephew) Stu knows EXACTLY what to do to find someone who can help locate his uncle: get human help! Unfortunately, Stu has no idea what a human is! BUT he knows he can find out by locating Steve's old friend, Danny Johnson—or the next best thing, Danny's sister Evelyn! With Evelyn's help, Stu embarks on a wild adventure that takes him from outer space to the North Pole and several exotic points in between. Along the way, he'll do battle with an old nemesis, meet up with one of the most legendary holiday characters on Earth, and celebrate the joys of the season!

"The Mihmiverse Holiday Special" stars Alice Mihm as Evelyn Johnson, Elliott Mihm as Stu, Stephanie Mihm as an old adversary, and writer/director Christopher R. Mihm as Santa Claus! "The Mihmiverse Holiday Special" will debut on Wednesday, November 24th at Vimeo! The film will be available to rent AND own (digitally) on the same day and date!

IMPORTANT! Due to manufacturing and supply-chain delays, DVDs & Blu-Rays of "The Mihmiverse Holiday Special" MAY NOT be available on the same date as the film's digital release. That said, we will mail pre-orders and contributor swag out as SOON as we receive our stock! We apologize for these delays, but the issue is ultimately out of our hands!

CHECK OUT THE OFFICIAL TRAILER BELOW!

Even though writer/director Christopher R. Mihm tried to AVOID cutting a trailer for the forthcoming "The Mihmiverse Holiday Special," Vimeo actually required it to be able to post the title on their service. Therefore, Mr. Mihm created the following trailer—and we're REALLY glad he did! Enjoy!

We don't know about you, but this has us even more excited for the special's release! Thanksgiving can't come fast enough!

CURRENT NEWS
THE 2021 MIHMIVERSE HOLIDAY ORNAMENT IS COMING!

Continue the tradition by adding some retro-monster-cheer to your decorations with the sixth annual Mihmverse holiday ornament!

This year's exclusive ornament is based on one of the best of Mihmiverse Master Monster Maker Mitch Gonzales' greatest creations: the hunter robot from "Danny Johnson Saves the World!"

This limited-edition collectible is lovingly hand-crafted by members of the Mihm family, individually numbered, includes the year, and joins the ever-growing set which includes last year's Oculon (from "Destination: Outer Space"), the title creature from "Queen of Snakes" in 2019, 2018's mutant bat (from "Terror from Beneath the Earth"), 2017's Steve (from "Danny Johnson Saves The World"), and 2016's Monster of Phantom Lake (from the film of the same name).

Because stock is limited to no more than 25 ornaments, we highly recommend ordering NOW to ensure shipment in time for the holidays—AND to make sure you get one, because once they're sold out...no more will be made—EVER!

IMPORTANT! This item is pre-order only and will ship on or around December 1st!

THE LAST MIHM STANDING!

The Mihmiverse now has its very own card game!

As a "Pandemic Project," Mihmiverse super-fan Barry Perkins (who appeared as a townsperson in "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us" and designed & built the St. Euphoria Cemetery seen in the film), has, with the assistance of the rest of the Perkins clan, created a card game based on the films of Christopher R. Mihm: "The Last Mihm Standing!"

The game is made up of 71 cards inspired by all 17 films (and one musical), tokens for keeping track of certain events, an instruction book, and a die (because sometimes it's better to be lucky than good). Players take turns using cards to do things like releasing a giant spider to attack their opponents, asking "Basement Jesus" to watch over them, or just hiding out in an admittedly-familiar looking forest.

It's a Battle Royale where you win by being the only person not to lose—although, if you're clever enough, you might find a loophole around that! Knowledge of the Mihmiverse is not needed to play the game, but the cards are clearly written by a fan... for the fans.

This game has been professionally manufactured and is now available in EXTREMELY limited quantities! Get yours NOW while supplies last!

THE DAY THE EARTH ABRUPTLY ALMOST ENDED!

With "The Mihmiverse Holiday Special" coming out at the end of this month, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has turned his full attention to the NEXT Mihmiverse movie, "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Day the Earth Abruptly Almost Ended!" Principal photography wrapped up in mid-October, with a handful of special effects shots still needing to be filmed—but no actors are required from this point forward! As of the publication date of this newsletter, Mr. Mihm has edited almost 45 minutes of the film, thus surpassing the half-way point in the final product! He has asked that we let you, the fans, know that he is VERY happy with how the movie is coming together, and cannot wait to see it finished!

In "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Day The Earth Abruptly Almost Ended," Phantom Lake County is shaken by inexplicable earthquakes emanating from a local system of caves and being overrun by grossly mutated creatures of unusual size—a phenomenon which may point to the return of a long-since-forgotten menace! Thankfully, the Phantom Lake Kids (Danny & Evelyn Johnson and their friends Billy Blue, Butch, and Chip) are "on the job" and determined to solve the real mystery: what's the deal with Butch's magic hat?

As has been reiterated many, many times, the Mihmiverse is only made possible by contributions from fans like you. For each $20.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name* of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film and a customized, frame-able document certifying their contribution!

IMPORTANT! Physical media copies of the finished film are NOT automatically included with a basic contribution. If you would like to be guaranteed a DVD or Blu-Ray of the film when it is released, you MUST order it separately (with the purchase of at least one credit)!

Credits can even be given as gifts! Imagine the looks on the faces of your loved ones when they find out their names will be immortalized on the silver screen!

THIS MONTH IN MIHMIVERSE HISTORY
Since the films of Christopher R. Mihm have existed for over 15 years, we figured digging into them would make for an entertaining addition to this newsletter! Thus, in this new section, aptly titled This Month in Mihmiverse History, we'll traipse through "days of Mihmiverse past" and present some of the most interesting events!

Principal photography of "It Came From Another World!" came to an end at the beginning of November 2006. Shooting began exactly two months prior and, to date, is the FASTEST writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has ever shot any Mihmiverse feature. Mr. Mihm secured distribution for his first three films (two of which weren't even finished at the time!) with Shadow Creek Studios at the end of the month.

In 2011, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm was featured in an above-the-fold, front-page story in the St. Paul Pioneer Press newspaper about the production of "House of Ghosts."

Right after Thanksgiving 2012, principal photography of the most-popular-to-date Mihmiverse film, "The Giant Spider," was completed. The film continues to screen across the world and is considered by many to be the best of the bunch!

The first annual Mihmiverse holiday ornament appeared in November of 2016. The exclusive ornament was created in honor of the 10th anniversary of the film that launched the Mihmiverse, "The Monster of Phantom Lake!" It sold out VERY quickly!

In 2018, the first Mihmiverse Mystery Box was made available. The lucky few who were able to order one received an exclusive "Pocket Steve," a framed copy of "Basement Jesus," a "fired bullet" from "Guns of the Apocalypse," and several other collectibles and rarities!

MIHMIVERSE FAN FOCUS
Welcome to the Mihmiverse Monthly feature where we talk to YOU, the fans! Every month, we choose a random Mihmivite and ask them a few Mihmiverse-related questions in an attempt to get to know them better and find out what they REALLY think about the films of Christopher R. Mihm!

This month, we interview Captain Kevin & Cindy Burchfield!

Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
We are Capt. Kevin & Cindy Burchfield! We live in beautiful Juneau, Alaska with our pet gargoyle, Ruger! I, Captain Kevin, own Lost in Alaska Adventures, a fishing and whale-watching business, and Cindy is the Creative Projects Manager for the Alaskan Brewing Company. I am also a writer, and have published books in the campy old horror style like "Sleeps With the Fishes" and "Gone Missing!" We love the old B-reel horror/sci-fi movies and we love all the Mihmiverse films!

When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
About 10-12 years ago our niece—knowing our love for the genre—sent us a DVD of "The Monster of Phantom Lake" and we were instantly hooked!

If you had to pick just ONE, which of the Mihmiverse films would be your favorite?
Our favorite, without a doubt, is "The Giant Spider!" We love this film! It SO could have been made in the late '50s!

Tell us how you, in particular, show your "Mihmiverse pride!"
We share the films with everyone we can and we have a "Steve" keeping an eye on us in the kitchen! People always ask about him!

Where would you like to see the Mihmiverse go in the future?
KAIJU! We want a big lizard! But, truthfully, any monster writer/director Christopher R. Mihm comes up with we will love!
Want to be interviewed for a future edition of the Mihmiverse Fan Focus? Send an email to info@sainteuphoria.com and let us know! Maybe next month the subject will be YOU!
THE TRIVIA CORNER
Based on Books!

Over the years, several cheesy sci-fi films were based on—or adapted from—books. (Books that, for the most part, were better than the films!)

Below are 5 slices of cheese. Column one features the name of a film and the book upon which it was based. Column two features plot points, cast members, and other points of interest.

As always, your job is to match them up correctly. Then go watch the movie—or read the book. Or both!

1. "Four Sided Triangle" (1953) Adapted from his book of the same name by William Temple.
2. "Conquest of Space" (1955) Adapted from the book of the same name, written by Willy Ley and Chesney Bonesell.
3. "The 27th Day" (1957) Adapted from the book of the same name by John Brantley.
4. "The Day of the Triffids" (1962) Loosely based on the novel of the same name by John Wyndham.
5. "Night of the Lepus" (1974) Based on Russell Braddon's novel, "The Year of the Angry Rabbit."

A. Aliens give 5 people small capsules that can kill mankind with the understanding that they will colonize Earth if they ever use them. Perhaps the aliens didn't think it through properly. Gene Barry stars.
B. Sometimes cloning doesn't work the way you want it. The film ends with a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson: "You shall have joy or you shall have power, said God; You shall not have both."
C. Eric Fleming stars in a tale of conflict between science and religion. Rosemary Clooney has a cameo.
D. Let's boil this down: An unusual meteor shower blinds almost everyone. Alien plants kill people and feed on their corpses. Seawater saves the day. Howard Keel stars.
E. Stuart Whitman, Janet Leigh, Rory Calhoun, and Dr. Leonard McCoy—I mean DeForest Kelley—fight off giant rabbits. This one's a "gimme" if you're paying attention!

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
Missile to the Moon (1959)
Directed by Richard E. Cunha
Starring Richard Travis and Cathy Downs

Essentially a remake of 1953's "Cat Women of the Moon," "Missile to the Moon" follows the exciting adventures of Earth's first manned mission to our nearest celestial neighbor. The film opens as the American government is attempting to commandeer a privately-designed atomic-powered rocket. When a pair of escaped convicts stow away on the craft, its designer, an angry scientist who is none-too-happy about the situation, sees it as the perfect opportunity to launch. Holding them at gunpoint, the scientist forces the young fugitives to act as his crew before his groundbreaking achievement is taken away. Meanwhile, the designer's assistant and his fiancé board the ship in search of the scientist and become trapped as the countdown to launch begins. After a violent take-off that results in the accidental death of the rocket ship's creator, the remaining members of the ragtag crew land safely on the surface of the moon and find themselves besieged by bad science, cheesy rock monsters, an evil giant spider marionette, and a race of beautiful, semi-telepathic alien women hell-bent on returning to Earth to take over! Overall, "Missile to the Moon" is an improvement over the film on which it is based, but to put that in perspective, "Cat Women of the Moon" is considered one of the worst movies of all time so... it's not much of an achievement. The acting is era-and-genre-appropriate and the special effects aren't particularly special, with the previously mentioned lunar spider creature being a perfect example of how wonderfully bad things can get. In spite of everything however, the film is actually quite enjoyable. The pacing is a bit quicker than most films of the era and its runtime is mercifully short. If you like classic "drive-in grade" science fiction, this is definitely not to be missed!

STREAM THE MIHMIVERSE
If you're like most people these days, you tend to stream your favorite TV shows and movies, particularly because it's way more convenient and you have access to them in more places! Did you know that there are now several places to stream the entire Mihmiverse catalog?

From the movie that started it all, "The Monster of Phantom Lake," to its musical offshoot, "The Monster of Phantom Lake: The Musical!," and "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us," everything you need to "visit" the denizens of Phantom Lake County is available for your streaming pleasure!

The ENTIRE filmography of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (including the soon-to-be-released "The Mihmiverse Holiday Special") is available through the Mihmiverse Vimeo VOD portal!

Every film is presented using the same ultra high-quality renders used for the official Blu-Ray releases and actually feeds video content to the Drive-in Monsters Roku channel. Most importantly, the Mihmiverse Vimeo VOD portal is the ONLY PLACE to legally own the films digitally!

Retro-style monster movies from the wild & weird imagination of cult filmmaker Christopher R. Mihm! From giant, rampaging spiders to alien invasions and bug-eyed horrors, the Drive-in Monsters channel includes the entire catalog of Mr. Mihm's films, exclusive extras, and long lost special features originally released on currently out-of-print physical media! Explore the worldwide, underground cult phenomenon known as the "Mihmiverse" and enjoy the rebirth of the golden age of "drive-in cinema" with the Drive-in Monsters channel!

As of right now, the channel is free... but, that most likely will not last forever! So make sure to enjoy the Drive-in Monsters Roku channel while it's still completely free of charge!

Most of the films of the Mihmiverse are available on Amazon Video. Sadly, as Amazon continues to revise and rewrite its policies, they have downgraded the entire Mihmiverse catalog from "available with Prime" to rental only. Though this wasn't entirely unexpected—given the way the service has been slowly ridding itself of the films of Christopher R. Mihm—we CANNOT guarantee they will still be there on any given day! So, if Amazon is your preferred place to watch the Mihmiverse, enjoy it while it lasts!

NOTE: Amazon has barred writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (and MANY other independent filmmakers) from adding any new films to their service. As far as we have been able to figure out, the service is taking a more "curated" approach to its catalog and, unfortunately, does not have any more room for the cheesy goodness of the Mihmiverse! Therefore, if you're interested in watching the newest films of the Mihmiverse, we highly recommend checking out the Mihmiverse Roku channel, Drive-in Monsters!
