After making 18 feature films, helping develop a theatrical musical based on his first movie, and releasing a holiday special, Mr. Mihm has decided to "mix things up a bit" with his next film. The movie will be called "
Despite the project's unwieldy title, there's an apparent method to the madness, as we've been informed that this film will be completely unique in the Mihmiverse catalog. According to the director, the movie will be presented in a documentary format while remaining, in essence, a cheesy 1950s-style B-movie done up as a "mockumentary," and the story will fit nicely into existing Mihmiverse continuity! It will star several familiar faces and, should everything work out, include some characters and actors we haven't seen in years!
In writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's first faux-documentary, KPHL Channel 6 Nightly News anchor Daniel Johnson (Elliott Mihm) hosts a "look back" at one of the most shocking events ever to transpire in Mihmiverse history. Through interviews with survivors and major players involved in the crisis, re-enactments, and never-before-seen archival footage, Mr. Johnson presents the complete and unabridged story of the wad of chewing gum that mutated, became sentient, grew to gargantuan proportions, and threatened the lives of every man, woman, and child in Phantom Lake County!
As has been reiterated many, many times, the Mihmiverse is only made possible by
contributions from fans like you. And, as a new project is in the beginning stages, now is the time when the Mihmiverse needs your
contributions the most!
For each $20.00 donation, all

Curling is a unique ice sport that has become such a part of the "greater Mihmiverse" that the films of Christopher R. Mihm even has its own official curling team,

YOU, the fans! Every month, we choose a random Mihmivite and ask them a few Mihmiverse-related questions in an attempt to get to know them better and find out what they
REALLY think about the films of Christopher R. Mihm!
This month, we interview John Simmons!
Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
Hey guys! My name is John Simmons, I am a native Texan (University of Texas, class of 1983! "Hook 'em Horns!") who now resides on my small family farm in northeastern Ohio. I live with my wife, my oldest son and his family, our dogs, our snakes, our pigs, our rabbits, our chickens... you get the idea.
Due to health reasons, a few years ago I had to retire from my career as a chef/restaurant manager, so I got back into the broadcasting and voice work that I had dabbled in when I was younger, and started writing. Now, aside from working on the farm, I am also working on a new novel (and some other stuff), podcasting and doing voiceover work from my home studio.
I have become quite an avid home brewer. I blend my own whiskey, make my own bärenfang, brew my own beer, and make my own mead. On top of all this, I still have time to listen to heavy metal and watch awesome (Mihmiverse) movies.
When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
Shortly after "
The Monster of Phantom Lake" was released on DVD, my brother called me up and said, "Hey! I have something you need to see!"
I went over to his house, we cracked open a bottle of scotch, and I watched my first Mihmiverse movie. I was hooked. I loved everything about it! After we watched it, we killed the bottle and had a long talk about our dad and how he would've loved the movie as well. He's the one that got us interested in science fiction, old movies, and cheesy movies in general.
Unfortunately, not long after that, my brother passed away. I cannot watch any of these movies without thinking about him and my dad. For me, that makes these movies just that much more special.
If you had to pick just ONE, which of the Mihmiverse films would be your favorite?
Of course you put a hard question right in the middle! If I had to choose one, I would say "
House Of Ghosts." All of the films are enjoyable, and they all have merit, but there's something a little different about "
House of Ghosts." I can't put my finger on it, but it's a little weirder than the other ones and has a more skewed vision.
As I said, I can't really put my finger on it, but it's the one I can watch over and over again back-to-back. The twist ending is great, but I don't know if that's it! There's just something about it that sets it apart for me.
Tell us how you, in particular, show your "Mihmiverse pride!"
I show my Mihmiverse pride in a few ways. I tell everybody that will listen that they need to watch these movies. Some of them will like them, some of them might not, but I think most of them will. My wife says I'm very obnoxious about the Mihmiverse (and she's probably right), but that's okay! When I find something I like, I am behind it 100%!
I have a collection of Mihmiverse T-shirts that I wear with pride when I go out. I get questions about them all the time and I am never shy about answering them! Also, I have recently become a contributor to the movies. I feel that these movies need to be made, and Mr. Mihm needs to keep on doing what he's doing. I think what he's doing is important, and if I can contribute in any way, I am happy to be able to do so.
Where would you like to see the Mihmiverse go in the future?
I really enjoy the way the Mihmiverse is structured, especially the way (most of) the movies are connected and call back to one another. I think that's really cool. I think this should continue to be a recurring theme in the movies! As far as a type of movie to tackle, I think a horror musical would fit into the Mihmiverse just fine.

A Pinch of Basil
Basil Rathbone passed away in July of 1967 at the age of 75. Of course, he was best known for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in several films and radio shows, but over his long career, he did it all, from serious Shakespeare, to silly comedy. This month, we're honoring him with a trivia quiz dedicated to his work in horror filmsand he did quite a few.

3. "The Comedy of Terrors" (1963)
4. "Queen of Blood" (1966)
5. "The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini" (1966)

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
Revenge of the Creature (1955)
Directed by
Jack ArnoldStarring
John Agar and
Lori Nelson
Though most people are at least aware of the classic 1950s monster film, "
Creature from the Black Lagoon," few know that it spawned two somewhat inferior sequels. "
Revenge of the Creature" was the first, and begins a year after the incidents of the first film. The creature is captured and brought to an aquarium in Florida where it's chained up and put on public display. The movie starts well, but drags a little in the middle until the creature falls in love with a beautiful, young female ichthyologist, breaks free and carries her away. Can the authorities stop the monster before he escapes with his prize? Well, what do you think? Overall, the film is quite goodalthough it misses the self-contained perfection of the original. The creature costume and underwater photography are amazing, even by today's standards! The script is solid and surprisingly, the film delivers a couple of real scares. Again, it's not nearly as good as the original, but, for what it is, it's a great classic monster film. Highly recommended!

As of right now, the channel is free... but, that most likely will not last forever! So make sure to enjoy the
Drive-in Monsters Roku channel while it's still completely free of charge!
Most of the films of the Mihmiverse are available on Amazon Video. Sadly, as Amazon continues to revise and rewrite its policies, they have downgraded the entire Mihmiverse catalog from "available with Prime" to rental only. Though this wasn't entirely unexpectedgiven the way the service has been slowly ridding itself of the films of Christopher R. Mihmwe
CANNOT guarantee they will still be there on any given day! So, if Amazon is your preferred place to watch the Mihmiverse, enjoy it while it lasts!
NOTE: Amazon has barred writer/director Christopher R. Mihm (and
MANY other independent filmmakers) from adding any new films to their service. As far as we have been able to figure out, the service is taking a more "curated" approach to its catalog and, unfortunately, does not have any more room for the cheesy goodness of the Mihmiverse! Therefore, if you're interested in watching the newest films of the Mihmiverse, we highly recommend checking out the Mihmiverse Roku channel,
Drive-in Monsters!

The Trivia Corner answers: 1-C, 2-D, 3-A. 4-E, 5-B, Bonus Answer: 1939's "Son of Frankenstein." Rathbone plays Dr. Frankenstein's son who tries to revive the monster, played once again by Boris Karloff.
