THE MIHMIVERSE NEEDS YOUR HELP
If you're not aware, almost every Mihmiverse film is currently available to be streamed on Amazon Primeincluding the latest release, "
Queen of Snakes!" Amazon, however, is currently undergoing a "silent purge" of independent films on its service. Many films of a particularly lower-budget stripe are starting to be pulled (without explanation) in an attempt by the company to "clean up" its movie selection. Unfortunately, the works of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm are not immune.
The first Mihmiverse film to be dropped from their service was "
Destination: Outer Space" and, unfortunately, once removed, it
CANNOT be resubmitted and will
NOT be reconsidered by the service. Again, there was no explanation beyond a vague boilerplate response about "customer quality standards." "
Destination: Outer Space" was the first Mihmiverse film to have a "star rating" slip below three and, as far as we can tell, that's the biggest reason it was dropped.
For a majority of people around the world, streaming has become the de facto home delivery method for movies, and having the films of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm available on one of the largest services is important to help fund future projects!
To make sure the films
STAY on Amazon Prime, we desperately need your helpand it's easy to do! Simply stream any Mihmiverse film from beginning to end. Once it's done, give it a star rating. Then, if you feel so inclined, give it a review! Be honest! Tell the world what you think!
THEN, encourage everyone you know to do the same! The more streaming minutes the 'verse gets, the more likely the films will remain on the service, so feel free to view (and rate!) the entire collection!
Thank you for your help!

Welcome to the
Mihmiverse Monthly feature where we talk to
YOU, the fans! Every month, we choose a random Mihmivite and ask them a few Mihmiverse-related questions in an attempt to get to know them better and find out what they
REALLY think about the films of Christopher R. Mihm!
This month, we interview John Simmons!
Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
Hey everybody! My name is John Simmons, and I am a big fan of the wonderful craziness that is the Mihmiverse.
I'll tell you a little bit about me, if that's OK with you guys: I am a native Texan, UT class of '83. Hook 'em Horns! I am married with four kids, 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild on the way, and an awesome dog. I am a lifelong movie buff and comic book collector. From my youth through college I was an athlete, and I still retain my love of many sports (I'm not a fan of any particular team, I just enjoy watching and playing sports), with cricket and soccer being my two favorites.
I was in the restaurant business from 1975 until I retired, due to a bad ticker, back in 2005. When I retired I was a manager/executive chef of a restaurant, and my family and friends have made sure I've kept my skills sharp. Since then, I have had time to pursue my long-time interest in comedy and writing. I'm a Comedy Sportz veteran, and I hope to have my first books published very soon. Of course, I still collect comic books and watch as many movies as I can!
When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
In 2009 (or maybe 2010, I'm not sure), my younger brother gave me a DVD copy of "
The Monster of Phantom Lake" and just said, "Dude, watch this!"
I watched it, and I watched it again, and I knew I wanted to see as many of this dude's films as I could. No doubt, I was hooked!
I've gotten each film as is it has become available on DVD (now I have to upgrade to Blu-Ray, darn it).
BUT, with these films streaming on Amazon, I don't even need to have my DVD player hooked up to enjoy them. Yay, technology!
If you had to pick just ONE, which of the Mihmiverse films would be your favorite?
As much as I love all the films that make up the Mihmiverse, I would have to say that my favorite is "
Attack Of The Moon Zombies."
I really dug everything about the movie. I think the story is fantastic, I really appreciate the way the actors made me care about their characters, I love the dialogue, the sets and production values, the music, and Mr. Mihm's direction. I am just really impressed with this movie all the way around!
I could honestly say that about any film in the Mihmiverse (and mean every word!), but there were two things that put "
Attack Of The Moon Zombies" into my top spot: I
LOVE this type of "alien invasion" sci-fi (by far my favorite sub-genre), and the script. The dialogue, as I mentioned earlier, is great. I love it. But, the names...
THE NAMES! Being a huge science fiction and prog rock fan, I
LOVE the names. That just really hooked me. And, then there was
THAT conversation (you know the one I'm talking about) where I damn near fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard. Classic!
Tell us how you, in particular, show your "Mihmiverse pride!"
I show my Mihmiverse pride in a few ways:
- I make sure I tell everybody who will listen about writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and the films of the Mihmiverse (it drives my wife nuts!), making sure everybody knows how to stream them or buy their own copies. I have loaned out my copies of most of the films numerous times.
- I also make sure that I leave reviews on Amazon, and keep those reviews updated.
- I will be showing my pride in a more public way as soon as my new T-shirts get here.
- ALSO, I almost have my wife worn down on my getting a Steve tattoo!
Where would you like to see the Mihmiverse go in the future?
This is probably the hardest question for me to answer because I love all the movies, and I love what the "Mihmiverse crew" is doing. I would honestly hate to see too much change, as far as the approach to making these films goes. Pastiche is a damn hard thing to do well, and writer/director Christopher R. Mihm does it extraordinarily well.
As far as genres go: maybe a little more psychological type horror in the vein of "Psycho," "Peeping Tom," or "Homicidal," or a true horror-comedy à la Abbott and Costello, Bob Hope or the Bowery Boys.

Mihmiverse Fan Focus? Send an email to

YOU!
CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
Attack of the Crab Monsters (1957)
Directed by
Roger CormanStarring
Richard Garland,
Pamela Duncan, and
Russell Johnson
A team of scientists studying the effects of radiation on the flora and fauna of a remote Pacific island mysteriously disappear. A back-up team arrives to investigate and finds the island is being wracked by inexplicable seismic shocks. When members of the new team begin to vanish, the remaining scientists are plagued by the disembodied voices of their missing colleagues commanding them to go to a cave deep within the island. Intrigued, the team heeds the instructions and, once there, is shocked to find giant, radiation-mutated psychic crabs that are responsible for both the disappearances and the earthquakes. Plus, as an added bonus, they want to take over the world! This movie is a perfect example of the kind of low-budget, Z-grade drive-in "trash" that Roger Corman was infamous for. Everything about it screams "fast and cheap." The crab creatures themselves look like bad papier-mâché, the dialogue is ham-fisted and wooden, and the acting and directing are uneven and frequently laughable. Even the editing is questionable, with no eye toward continuity (actors often appear to be wearing different outfits from shot to shot!) and, strangely, scenes that appear to end mid-conversationsometimes before the end of a sentence! From this description of the film, it sounds very much like something worth skippingbut that's far from the truth! "
Attack of the Crab Monsters" is definitely the best of the very worst. This movie is absolutely not to be missed!
