TWO MIHMIVERSE FILMS ARE TAKING SHAPE!

Principal photography of both Mihmiverse films currently in production ("Queen of Snakes" and "Guns of the Apocalypse") has begun!

As of the publication of this newsletter, (if one were to go strictly by number of scenes in either script), a full fourth of "Queen of Snakes" and a third of "Guns of the Apocalypse" are "in the can!" Editing of both films is ongoing and, should everything work out, one—or possibly both—will be released by the end of the year! To get us even MORE excited for these upcoming movies, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm was kind enough to share exclusive images from each film. Check them out below!

The first still comes from "Queen of Snakes" and was filmed at the Heights Theater, where every Mihmiverse premiere has taken place since "The Monster of Phantom Lake!" In this image, actors Rachel Grubb (Amy/Hagra/Leisl) and Daniel R. Sjerven (Howard Johnson/Cpt. Frehley) appear to be awkwardly waiting for the start of a movie. However, upon closer inspection, the more interesting thing seems to be the number of Mihmiverse references happening in the background! Can you spot them all?

In the second image (below), we get a first look at "Guns of the Apocalypse" stars Alice Mihm (as Hope) and Kira Pontiff (as Faith). We're not entirely sure what their characters are hiding from but, based on the looks on their faces, whatever it is, it can't be good!

The films of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm are 100% crowd-funded by the fans and, since you're reading this newsletter, we'll ASSUME you're PROBABLY included in this elite group! As such, with both "Guns of the Apocalypse" and "Queen of Snakes" in full production, the Mihmiverse needs YOU to make it all possible!

Contribute to one or both of the films TODAY and, not only will you be directly responsible for the creation of the Mihmiverse, you'll be entitled to have a single name* of your choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film(s), a customized, framable document certifying your contribution and one (1) copy of the finished film(s)!

Additional copies of the film(s) and/or world premiere tickets may be pre-ordered as "add-ons" ($10 each) with the purchase of at least one credit! Credits can even be given as gifts! What's more unique and/or special than your loved one seeing their name in the end credits of a movie AND on the IMDb?

MIHMIVERSE FAN FOCUS
Welcome to the newest feature in the Mihmiverse Monthly where we talk to YOU, the fans! Every month, we're going to pick a random Mihmivite and ask them a few Mihmiverse-related questions in an attempt to get to know them better and find out what they REALLY think about the films of Christopher R. Mihm!

This month, we interview Robert Goodrick, a man who can easily be considered THE preeminent Mihmiverse cosplayer!

Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
Hi, everyone out there in the Mihmiverse! I'm a stay-at-home dad/assistant executive director of a charity for kids called Heroic Inner Kids. I live in Dallas with my wife, Charisa, and our 7 year old son. We enjoy costuming/cosplay, music, and movies. I have been collecting costume pieces since I was a kid.

When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
A good friend of mine, Michael Cross, invited me to come to a viewing of "The Giant Spider" at the Alamo Drafthouse in June of 2016. He explained the genre and filming, and I was intrigued. He suggested dressing up in costume, so that sealed the deal.

When I first met Mr. Mihm before the film, I was in a lab coat, goggles, atomic bowtie, and a salt-and-pepper afro wig. We became quick friends...kind of. He would attend various events in the DFW area to sell his films, and I would walk up and talk to him, really excited that he was there. I was always in costume, so it took him a couple of visits for him to realize that I was the same guy each time!

If you had to pick just ONE, which of the Mihmiverse films is your favorite?
"The Giant Spider is still my favorite. It was the first one I saw, but as I've seen it again and again, I pick up on more and more Mihmiverse-related tidbits sprinkled throughout which reference the earlier films.

Tell us how you, in particular, show your "Mihmiverse pride!"
I have never been to a DFW area Mihmverse premiere NOT in costume. I own all the movies and some Mihmiverse-related swag. One of my favorites is the "eyeball" pins that were offered at "Demon with the Atomic Brain" events. It's subtle piece but it definitely starts some interesting conversations. Side Note: My son watches "Danny Johnson Saves the World" at least once a week. One time he left it at my mom's house 3 hours away and was sad for about 2 weeks until we got it back.

Where would you like to see the Mihmiverse go in the future?
"Demon with the Atomic Brain" introduced a bit of a multiverse concept, which is always interesting. What new horrors abide in these other dimensions?!?

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
Invisible Invaders (1959)
Directed by Edward L. Cahn
Starring John Agar and John Carradine

After a prominent scientist is killed in an atomic explosion, invisible aliens from the moon possess and reanimate his corpse (which was miraculously NOT vaporized in the explosion) and warn the human race to surrender or perish at the cold, dead hands of human zombies inhabited by the "Invisible Invaders!" As the aliens demonstrate their might through shocking acts of (stock footage) violence, a small group of scientists and a dashing Army officer (played by B-movie stalwart John Agar) are tasked with figuring out a way to defeat the seemingly unstoppable, invisible threat! Admittedly, the premise is as ridiculous as it sounds and raises quite a few unanswered questions—for instance, if the invaders are invisible and incredibly powerful, why do they need to reanimate dead bodies to do their bidding? Wouldn't it have been easier to take over by simply remaining invisible? The outlandishness of the premise aside, if you can suspend your disbelief long enough, the film is a nice, jaunty little fright fest. Horror icon John Carradine appears on-screen for less than five minutes BUT, his creepy voice is used for all communications with the aliens, lending a sense of gravitas to their threats. All things considered, this film is worth a late night viewing. Highly recommended!

THE TRIVIA CORNER
To Be Perfectly Frank(enstein)

After playing Frankenstein's Monster in 3 films: "Frankenstein" (1931), "Bride of Frankenstein" (1935) and "Son of Frankenstein" (1939), Boris Karloff decided he no longer wanted to play the part. This opened the crypt to nearly 60 actors who have tackled the role since then (not counting TV's Herman Munster played by Fred Gwynn and Phil Hartman's version on "Saturday Night Live.")

Below, you'll find two lists: The first, a small selection of Frankenstein movies made between 1942 and 1974. The second, a list of actors who have played the monster. These are NOT comprehensive lists, but they do feature some famous films—and actors. If you think you can match 'em up, THROW THE SECOND SWITCH!

1. (1942) "Ghost of Frankenstein"
2. (1943) "Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman"
3. (1944) "House of Frankenstein," (1945) "House of Dracula," and (1948) "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein"
4. (1957) "The Curse of Frankenstein"
5. (1967) "Casino Royale," (1970) "The Horror of Frankenstein," and (1974) "Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell"
6. (1974) "Young Frankenstein"

A. David Prowse
B. Christopher Lee
C. Lon Chaney, Jr.
D. Peter Boyle
E. Bela Lugosi
F. Glenn Strange
